Should I move up to a 600cc sport bike?
I will be 18 in a few months, and i was wanting to get another bike when i go to college, but i don't really know what to get. I have been riding dirtbikes since i was 6 years old. I started on a 50cc Honda, then i moved up to a kawasaki 125cc dirtbike, then i got my motorcycle license at 14 and i bought a Suzuki 200cc enduro. By about 15 i decided to get a ninja 250. I haven't ridden very much in about a year, i just occasionally cruise around on my dads kawasaki Vulcan. Do you guys think i'm experienced enough for a cbr600rr?
It's honestly not the best bike to leap into, but it's probably the most common "starter" bike for young guys. They're cheap, and available everywhere you look. Just remember that it isn't a toy. It's a serious motorcycle that will bite you hard if abused. They are soft off the bottom, but they build horsepower at an insane rate as you get into the revs. If you pretend that it has a 5,000 RPM redline for a while, you will be fine. If you start exploring the limits on the street, you will know the feeling of asphalt on your skin. If you stunt, you will know the depression of seeing broken plastic all over the street and probably the feeling of asphalt too. You want to do yourself the best favor ever? Take a performance riding class or an into to track day class. You will learn more there than nearly anyone you know. Plus, you will save tons of money on medical and repair bills!
Get another few thousand miles under your belt on your 250 before stepping up to a 600
There's a lot of differences between that bike and your Dad's Vulcan.
I'm curious as to why you ride that instead of yours.
The answer to my question may be the answer to yours.
With only knowing what you have written here today… No, I don't think so.
- Should I consider buying or move on? I like the 2007 Honda Odyssey ex-l. I test drove one recently that's at a good price and miles. The only problem is that the steering wheel shakes above 50mph and continues while at 70 to 75mph. Should this be an automatic deal breaker or should I consider buying and bring to mechanic to inspect? I hate to waste money for multiple mechanic inspections.
- Which bike would be a good first sport bike. Looking at CBR1000/600's and also the yamaha R1/R6? I don't know much about the differences, I know some people are all for Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, of Kawasaki. Seems that whatever bike someone has, they say its the best. I wish I could just ride all of them and see for myself. Tampa, FL Sam
- Which bike should I move up to next? I have been riding a 2007 ninja 250 for 3 years now. I like the bike but its carbureted and a ***** to warm up. Its also slow so I would like to move to something a bit faster and nicer. I'm 5'4", female, not too crazy about speed, but I want something that sounds loud, and looks nice. I was thinking a honda cbr600 or gsxr 600, or zx6-r, nothing bigger then a 600, thats plenty of power. Which bike should I get next?
- What should I get for my first sport bike? I have been riding an old 1975 175xl Honda enduro for about a year now so I wouldn't consider myself a beginner but I I've been hearing that the 250 ninja is a great beginner bike and this will be my first Sport bike so this is the bike I have been looking at. Is this a good idea or will I go out grow it too fast? I'm about 135 pounds and 5'4 My price range is under 3000$ I'm open to any advice
