Torn between next motorcycle decision?
I'm am completely at a stand still at my next bike. Its between the gsxr-750 and a cbr600rr. I really like that on the 750 from what i've heard has more mid range power and not having to down shift coming out of every turn like the 600s but the only thing i don't like about it is the headlight also i really love the CBR600s undertail exhaust. I don't know how i expect anyone to answer this lol maybe a little input on each bike. Are the suzuki engines reliable we all know the honda boast about their solid reliability. I currently own a CB750. I'm not worried about not being able to handle either bike. Just want something i won't outgrow. I really wish they're we're more 750 ranged sport bikes to choose from.
Pretty much all of the prime 4 (Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda) have bikes that are good. They have the best reliability across the board compared to other manufacturers. As for differences between them, its pretty slim.
As for going from a CB750 to a GSX-R750? That is a pretty hefty jump. Sure you can do it, but I would make sure you have several thousand miles (probably 4-5,000+) before even thinking about it.
Honestly if you want a bike you won't outgrow? I would shift more the standard/sport 1000's like the CB1000 or the Ninja 1000. They are inline 4s like all of the racing bikes, but have slightly different torque/power/ergonomics that are more friendly to the every day rider.
When I started it was on a Ninja 250R. 2500 miles later I upgraded to a Ninja 650R. Another 2500-2700 miles later, I upgraded to the Ninja 1000. So it was about 32bhp, to 68bhp, to 140bhp. However 140bhp on a Ninja 1000 is different than the 140bhp on say the ZX-10R racing model due to the gearing.
For the Ninja 1000? Sure I could eventually upgrade to the ZX-10R, or the ZX-14R, but really, I have no need. I found my "sweet spot" with the Ninja 1000. It can do everything I ever wanted. Very nimble, good power bands, has torque if necessary, and has top end speed if necessary. Can pull hard all way to 90+ mph. Sure the ZX-14R could pull hard all the way to 150+mph, but why in the hell would I need that?
I have seat time on my friend's GSXR750 and another friend's GSXR600. Until fairly recently, I owned a GSXR1000.
I liked the immediate torque of my 1000, but mistakes are magnified when you have that much power on tap.
My friend's 750 was a really nicely balanced motorcycle.
I have always wondered why people worry that they will "outgrow" a 600 Super Sport. The only thing my 1000 did better than any 600 I rode was accelerate faster in a straight line. Even then, it's not like I left anyone in my dust. A better rider on a 600 will always beat a worse rider on a faster bike.
At this point I ride a HD, but I have had at least a dozen Japanese motorcycles over the years. I have always been amazed at how reliable and well made they are. I don't think reliability will be an issue with any well maintained Japanese motorcycle.
If you want to get into sport riding, a used 600 I4 is something you will never outgrow, but don't forget about all the outstanding sporting twins out there like the SV650 and the 650 Ninja. They are great learning platforms, and they are great deals when it comes to price.
You'd enjoy a V twin. RSV?
I don't know about your riding skills or how many miles you've clocked on your CB but the way you're talking about these bikes (sounds rather immature) make me feel like you're a newbie without much experience.
Sure a CB750 and Gixxer 750 have similiar displacement 4 cylinder DOHC 16v engines; but thats the only similiarity they share.
Honda CB750 makes 70BHP and weights 256kg (wet).
Gixxer 750 makes 140BHP and weight 190kg (wet).
Got my point? Gixxer not only weights much less, but also makes twice the horsepower!
How come? Because of a very high compression (12.5:1) and an ultra short stroke engine (Bore x Stroke 70mmx48.7mm compared to CB750's square 62mmx62mm). Thing is, the shorter the stroke the higher an engine could rev because of low friction and more revs means more BHP.
Here's the formula:
BHP = RPM x ft-lbs Torque / 5252.
I wonder if you've understand my 'technical info' or not. So let me dumb it down for you just in case:
Forget The Gixxer as its way more powerful and lighter then your CB750. Get The CBR as its makes a more manageable power at 100BHP…
Rest is up to you.
P.S, all Japanese bikes are reliable and bulletproof. I had a GS500 and it was very reliable. Same goes to my Honda VFR750.
Regards,
Prince.
Why are you down-changing coming out of a turn?
There are plenty of models of both bikes perhaps you could be more specific. Suzuki has a reputation for reliable engines.
Buy the bike that handles the best.
- Would a Lifetime Warranty influence your car buying decision? I'm debating between a 2017 Honda Pilot and 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. Pilot costs $28K but comes with a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty (several Honda dealers offer this) while Santa Fe costs $25K but just 10year/100k miles warranty. So do you think its worth paying $3k more for a Pilot especially since it comes with a Lifetime Warranty? I mean the warranty probably is worth $3k alone?
- Which bike should I move up to next? I have been riding a 2007 ninja 250 for 3 years now. I like the bike but its carbureted and a ***** to warm up. Its also slow so I would like to move to something a bit faster and nicer. I'm 5'4", female, not too crazy about speed, but I want something that sounds loud, and looks nice. I was thinking a honda cbr600 or gsxr 600, or zx6-r, nothing bigger then a 600, thats plenty of power. Which bike should I get next?
- What size motorcycle should I get next? So I've had my Honda rebel for about 2 years now and am wanting to move up. First off I'm a very small woman, I'm 5 3" and weigh around 120 lbs. My boyfriend is worried I can't handle a big bike and I'm just looking for someone a bit more knowledgeable on the subject. He doesn't want me to get anything bigger, but I feel I'm ready. Any thoughts?
- I'm torn on vehicles. Top priority being safety for my 6 month old daughter. I can choose between a? 2008 honda element (car-seat right side of vehicle) or a 2002 ford expedition (car-seat in the middle. I don't car about gas or any other issue. Only the safety for my child
