What type of fuel should be used in a stock 1979 Honda CB750L? - 1
Regular unleaded should be okay. If you wish to spend more non-ethanol premiem won't hurt it one bit and if you want to get fancy use 110 race-fuel. Of course the 110 will cost you more than the bike is worth in about a year but who cares, you'll be racing. LOL!
I would burn premium, 91 to 93 octane.
Some would say "why bother?".
Well, my '70s and '80s Hondas ran best with it.
Low grade fuel goes in the mower, not my bikes.
Non-Oxygenated premium.
Avoid ethanol.
It was engineered to work with leaded fuel, if you run it on unleaded there's a risk of eroding the valve seats. You can get additives for fuel. It might also require adjusting the ignition timing.
However, many people have no problems like that and ride perfectly happily with premium unleaded.
The big killer is ethanol - it will eat through original rubber hoses and seals and any oldish tank liner - do not let it near any fibre glass. If it is unused often then do not leave it with fuel in the tank or carbs, ethanol attracts water and will rust your bike from the inside. You can replace the seals and hoses with ethanol resistant versions and, with a lot of work, remove any existing tank liner and replace with a modern alternative.
Regular unleaded. Any Japanese bike is able to use Unleaded gas.
Unleaded medium or high octane is fine.
- What battery does my 1979 Honda CM400t need? Yes I have checked the manual, I was just wondering if someone could provide a link to the specific battery. The manual says it needs a 12 volt 12 amperes battery, thanks!
- No spark condition in a 1979 Honda CB250T? I picked this bike up a couple days ago and it has no spark. It has a kickstarter, but no battery. It also has CDI ignition electric start. The specific CDI is TIA01-20, does this bike need a battery for spark even for the kickstart?
- Is the 1979 honda cb750f super sport reliable? A guy in town is selling one with 11,000 miles on it and says it runs great. Are there any known problems with them? I don't want to buy a bike that will end up needing lots of work to fix when it's only worth like $1000 anyways.
- 1979 Honda XR200 Ignition Coil? So I have a 1979 Honda XR200 dirt bike and I have it almost ready to drive but it needs a ignition coil. I went on eBay and did not find one… I was just curious if any one knew if there was an ignition coil that would fit my 1979 Honda Xr200 dirt bike?
