Do I need to change my 2004 Honda odyssey timing belt at 97kplus miles? - 1

Absolutely.

I believe Honda recommend 10 years OR 105,000 mile, whichever comes first.

If you don't replace it, it will eventually just break at some random time in the future, and that basically destroys the engine.

Because your car is 12 years old, it's overdue to be changed. I can't tell you if the belt will last for 13 years or 18 years before it breaks. But if it lets go tomorrow… "I told you so"

It should already have been done by now.

Everyone except Elijah is giving you good advice. It must be changed at 105,000 miles or 10 years whichever comes first. You also need to change the water pump at the same time. Failure to do so can result in severe and expensive engine damage if the belt breaks. Get it changed today!

You don't need to, but you should be thinking about it…

It really depends on the timing belt replacement interval specified in your owners manual/maintenance schedule. On older Hondas it was every 60k miles. If you are going to be doing any work in the engine bay that requires accessing the same area, you might as well do the timing belt and other accessories at the same time.
