What is this engine noise? - 1
Added (1). The cracking and whining noise. See video.
Sounds like a bearing going bad on one of the drive belt systems (alternator, AC unit, belt tensioner, power steering pump)
What CB said. Take the belt off and check every pulley that turns.
I hear hydraulic lifter noise but the whine isn't good. If that isn't the power steering pump you have a serious problem with the cam advance mechanism and need to go to the dealer as soon as possible. Try taking the drive belts off and see if the whine is gone. Don't just keep driving until the motor won't run.
- Weird whistling noise coming from my ATV engine? So i have a honda 250ex, and today whenever i would give it gas, i would here a strange whistling noise coming from the cylinder block in the engine. When in neutral the sound was not heard. I never heard this sound before and it made me a little nervous. Just wondering if there's a problem with it or if i need to replace something.
- My engine makes a weird noise sometimes when I drive? I have 2008 Honda Odyssey DX. When I'm driving, there's no problem up until I drive up a slight hill. There's a cranking/grinding sound ONLY when I press the gas and I'm driving up a small hill. It stays for about 5 seconds and then it goes away. Any idea to what it could be?
- We have a 2006 Honda CBR. When you drive it, there's a loud whirring noise coming the back underneath side. What could cause that noise? The noise is situated around a CV boot on the left underneath side where the differential connects to the middle.
- Mechanic said he rebuilt the engine, smoke coming out of engine, could it be the grease burning off? The mechanic said he rebuilt the engine to my 1974 Honda CB550 I bought from him. Said he rebuilt the engine and is in perfect running condition. He has many bikes lying around and seems as if he is a hobbyist for bikes. He told me that he basically greased up a lot of parts of the motor and it is burning the grease off. The next oil change I do should remove the excess grease.
