Rough idle and hesitation, symptoms of a vacuum leak but seemingly normal fuel trims?
Rough idle and hesitation, symptoms of a vacuum leak but seemingly normal fuel trims? - 1
Added (1). My car has had a very annoying hesitation / performance issue with a rough idle. It feels like bursts of vibrations when stopped (not a motor mount), almost like a vacuum leak. However my fuel trims are around 5-15% total fuel trim.
Added (2). I have no check engine light. I have also noticed sometimes when accelerating from a stop, the car has a very slightly delayed response and kind of jerks, and then accelerates.
Added (3). Today I have been smelling a slight gasoline smell outside of my car after I turn it on. Any ideas? I'm pretty lost. Thanks!
Added (4). (Sorry, Y! A is screwed up and I have to post "Updates" with my info)…
One more thing, it's not a leaky injector (had them all checked and cleaned at a Honda dealer).
Is the car going into closed loop? Replace the PCV valve. Check for O2 sensor/s response by spraying carb cleaner on a vacuum line. Check TPS, MAP and MAF sensor voltage values/waveform as you rev the car. Check for Intake and Engine Coolant Temp sensor values when the engine is cold and warm. Check for a thermostat that is stuck open. Check for a leaking fuel pressure regulator (remove the vacuum line and plug it while the engine is idling and wait for about 10 minutes and check if the regulator leaks. Plug the EGR valve and check. Check for a strong spark and resistances of the coils. Check camshaft and crankshaft position pulse with a labscope. Get a smoke machine and check for vacuum leaks.
Spray brake cleaner or propane around the intake manifold and see if the fuel trims change.
Check fuel lines for leaks, if you smell gas then it's obviously leaking somewhere.
- Why does my car temperature rise when I idle but when i drive it, it's goes back to normal? So I started noticing this problem 2 days ago. I thought I fixed it by refilling the coolant. It was working fine till today again. When I stop on a cross street or I idle, the temperature slowly rises up to the "H" but once I accelerate or move the car, it slowly goes back to normal. My A.c works perfectly either way. What could be the problem? How much would it cost? It's a 2005 Honda civic ex.
- Hesitation and pulsing rough idle on cold start? 2012 Honda Civic, 165k miles. Been having a lot of hesitation off the line (picking up speed from a stop). When slowing down from 5mph to 0mph, and while stopped, my idle is rough and "earthquakey" in bursts. On cold starts my car idles rough and feels like a pulsating feeling like the car's going to die. RPMs on cold start are 1500 and take 10minutes to drop to 800. No codes, shifting is smooth. Any ideas?
- Fuel leak. Mechanic said it's the housing unit? I took my car into the shop on Friday due to having a fuel smell. They said it is the housing unit that the fuel pump is on. When they called the dealership, they said the fuel pump has to be replaced, not just the housing unit and that my car has more than one pump. Is that possible? My car is a 2001 Honda Civic.
- 2001 Honda Accord has a rough idle when the engine is cold? Replaced broken front motor mount (after market) on my and new spark plugs. Now rough idle slightly better, but now I have a slight vibration in steering wheel at idle, and slightly worst in reverse and when in park. After further inspection by Honda and original repair shop, all motor mounts are good. The rear mount cover is torn but still good. Not sure if this is normal?
