Will my tires last for 1 week?

I was told almost 3 weeks ago that eventually I would need to get my tires replaces because they are getting low. I made an appointment with a tire store and I have one more week until they get replaced. The roads are being worked on around my area and the main road I take in the morning is bumpy. Basically, they ripped up the asphalt. I also go about 60 to 80 mph on a highway. I have a 2009 Honda Fit. One of my co-workers came in today and noticed my passenger side tire is very low and he said the other ones are low too. I said I'm getting them replaced next week. He said well put some air in them. Will that help? I don't want to have a flat on the road. I know nothing about cars. I have a car where the tires need to be ordered.

Hi we can't answer this question and no one can without seeing the extent of the problem a visit to the tyre company to advise you also travelling slower will reduce the wear on the tyres.

Concerning tread life: one week will not make a significant difference in the life of the tires. If you can drive on them this week, you should be able to do the same for one more week. Although I'm assuming the tread is very low, so beware of wet weather. You could have problems with that.

Concerning air pressure: Please immediately set the pressure to the number recommended on the placard inside the driver's door jamb. It should be somewhere around 32 psi. If someone can visually tell your pressure is low, it is extremely low and unsafe to drive on. Especially if your tires are already fully worn out. You are asking for a blow-out. For future reference, you should be checking and adjusting your tire pressure monthly. If you don't know how, google it. It is easy once you buy the $3 tire gauge. No reason to take that kind of risk with your car and life. If you are totally clueless about cars and don't want to check the pressure, at least get to a service station of any kind and have a mechanic do it.

Fill them up to the correct pressure. Driving on under-inflated tires is a waste of fuel ( causes more drag ) and can be dangerous as they can overheat ( possibility of failure ) and handling capability decreases.

Just because the tires are low don, t mean they are bad! It could be the tires are leaking around the rims or the valve stems are leaking!
