2000 Honda accord starting issue

I have a 2000 honda accord v6. The last couple days I have only been able to start the car if I turn the steering wheel. Now it just clicks and won't start at all. Is it the ignition switch or the starter or something else? I'm going to attempt to fix it by myself so I don't want to buyou something and it be for nothing. Any input would help thank you!

Hi so hardly surprising now it is 17 years old. Well past it's scrap date.

Start with charging the battery with a portable battery charger set to 12 volts, 10 amps, for 6 hours. Then try starting it. You may have loose connections on the ignition switch but that's usually acting up if you move the steering wheel up and down… Not just turning the wheel.
If it's clicking by the motor you're hearing the starter solenoid clicking and just don't have enough battery power to spin the motor over.
Clean the battery posts and cable and if you have battery caps that come off make sure the lead lats in the battery have enough fluid to cover them before charging the battery. Top off the battery with distilled water to with in 1/2" of the top of the holes.

  • Honda TRX400FW starting issue (electrical)? I have a 2000 model Honda Foreman 400 (trx400fw) that has blown the main fuse and is going straight to ground from the main fuse (realized that by doing a continuity test) additionally, the fan comes on and stays on when the switch is turned to the "on" position and the starter is not getting power when the "start" button is pressed while in neutral and holding the left brake lever. (the starter itself works) any suggestions on what to check next?

  • 2000 Honda Civic LX - No Start issue? Got a 2000 Honda Civic LX 1.6L with a no start issue. She just cranks all day but won't fire up. Replaced distro cap, rotor, ignition coil, spark plugs, and wires. Cleaned all grounds, and tried jump starting. Only things I can think of next are the igniter, fuel filter, or (what my mechanic told me to change) the Engine coolant temperature sensor. I bought the sensor today and will change it out in a minute, doubt it will fix the issue though. Any ideas?
