2001 Honda Accord, 216,000 miles: What is causing the roaring slight vibration especially when accerating?
2001 Honda Accord, 4D,216,000 miles: just had a couple of seals beneath motor replaced (slight oil drip when parked overnight) along with water pump, and timing belt. There's a slight vibrating roar now, especially when I accelerate. It was never this roaring before.
Can it be a timing belt is somehow not adjusted correctly?
Clean the MAF sensor. Check the engine mounts. Check for bad CV axles. Check the misfire count with a scanner while accelerating. Replace the plugs and air filter and check valve clearances before doing anything else
Probably the exhaust.
If any motor mounts were replaced with after market mounts I've seen that be a common problem.
All Honda's have a common problem with the valves getting tight. They need to be adjusted every 60,000 miles. When were they adjusted last?
Take it back to the place that fixed the oil leak.
Watch the auxiliary belts with a flashlight as you rev the engine gradually to about 3000 or 3500 rpm. They should not whip more than about a quarter inch. I have seen cheap belts whip more than an inch - it goes without saying they don't last long.
- Would you purchase a 2004 Honda pilot for $6,000.000 that has 216,000 miles on it? I'm just browsing online looking at cars for sale and a lot of them have 200k or more miles on them and they want $4,000 or more. Why do people sale their cars for such a high price with a lot of miles on them? Its not just Hondas its all types of cars private and dealers as well
- 2008 Honda Fit with 66,000 miles on it for $5,000? Is this a good deal? I need to buy a new car and today I got an offer on a 2008 Honda Fit with 66,000 miles on it for $5,000. I'm a 19 year old girl and I know nothing about cars D: Are Honda Fits good cars? Should I buy this with so many miles already on it? Also, I like to travel. Will this car be safe to drive long distances?
- Slight over-inflation: Problem? I purchased a new set of tires for my Honda Civic (185/54 R14). I always keep 35 psi (cold) in them. When I checked the tire pressure (several days and about 20 miles of driving later), the pressure was 40 psi (cold). The installer put in a bit "extra". Any problem with running these little tires at 5 psi. Over for that short period? (I lowered them back down to 35 psi). Thanks! Sorry about the tire size, I typed it wrong: should be 185/65 R14, and it was checked when cold (40 lbs).
- Should I get a transmission flush on my 2001 Honda Accord DX with 165,000 miles on it? Well it's more like should I buy my friend's 2001 Honda Accord DX with 165,000 miles on it? He told me that there's nothing wrong with the transmission, but since the car is old that I might need to flush out the transmission.
