Car is jerking while driving?

My mom bought a 1995 honda accord today the guy said it runs perfect which so far it does (he kept good care of it inside/outside also) but we noticed when she's driving it kind of jerks like if it were a stick(its a automatic) shift like youll be driving at 20 then at 30mph itll jerk then at 40 then at 50 but it stops at a certain point until yiu start accelerating again. What could this be? Because its older? Transmission?

You're not jerking yourself while your car is jerking?

There are a lot of possible causes for this.

It could be as simple as needing basic "tune up" service, or it may have a faulty electronic sensor. It could also be a transmission issue, which could be simple or serious. If anyone tells you the car needs a new transmission, get a second opinion.

It could well be that, without being in the car and feeling the extent it jerks for ourselves it's hard to know
you have a 4 speed auto in that car, which was designed to eliminate a lot of the gear change motion, but it's still a 27 year old design, newer 5 and six speed auto transmissions are much smoother, and cvt transmission give no feel of gear change and better fuel economy, due to the fact they have eliminated gears altogether

Call a honda dealer and ask them to test it for you

Hi so when Honda design cars they have a design life which means in a few years time you have to buy another car. This designed life is 8 years or 100k miles so when a car passes both these dates. It is just down to luck how long it will last. Now given that the mechanical parts of this car are now some 22 years old way past this date and mileage would be my guess it now needs some serious spare parts like engine and gearbox.

Have you checked the transmission fluid level? It may either want topping up or changing. Investigate the his possibility because fluid loses its viscosity over time and cause gear changing problems.

  • Car was extremely low on gas and I stalled while driving slow? Car was extremely low on gas and I stalled while driving slow. I immediately turned off the car. After 3 seconds I turned the switch and the car started and I drove 1 mile to the nearest gas station. My question is was this stall area from low gas? The car didn't do it again drives great. Its a Honda crv 1998 automatic.
  • My car cuts off while driving? My 2000 Honda Civic ex will cut off on me in the middle of driving. Right before it cuts off all the interior lights will flicker. I've checked the connection on the battery and still doing it.
  • Car Battery died while driving? Yesterday I had to jump my car ('94 Honda Passport), which I found weird because I hadn't left any lights on or anything. I had about a 20-24 minute drive home, and when I got into my neighborhood, the battery gave out and everything stopped working. The car wouldn't even try to turn over. I'm worried to jump it again, because I'm afraid it will die on me while driving, again. What gives?
  • Why does my car keep turning off while driving? I drive a 2002 Honda Accord coupe 6 cylinder & lately it's been turning off while I'm driving. The car just turns off & I always have to end up pulling over. When the car turns off, all the lights on the dash turn on including the TCS lights, brake light, door open lights, etc. When I try to start it back up it just tries to but doesn't. I usually wait about 5 minutes & it ll start again but it's been happening way more often now.
