Honda Accord 01 Trunk issues
I have a 2001 Accord Coupe and the trunk opens and closes but the only problem I have is that I have to shut it harder than normal to get it to close or it will remain open. Any solutions?
Mr. Charles, the proper sequence as to identifying cars is this: First is the complete model year, that is, four digits. Then the brand and then the model name. This car is a 2001 Honda Accord. Nice looking and in proper sequence. For some unknown reason, US children with cars do not capitalize names, seem to place the year last and use two digits which, as to years, is incorrect. You also capitalized "trunk" which is incorrect, you failed to end the first sentence at "issues" with the required period and in typical teen fashion, you added the "help" which is understood and not required. But, if you insist, it is a one word sentence. You also left out the subject also in the Teen Texting Slanglish Code Standard.

In fact, in the next sentence you did use the proper car ID sequence but the sentence issues continue. The first sentence after the question ended at "closes." The "but "is not needed as it is a conjunction. The problem, Mr. Charles, is one of wear on the two items that are used by car manufacturers. If you observe the latch in the trunk lid and the part in the car body there's a mechanical connection. I do not have a Honda but the concept is the same. If there's not an obvious two screws or bolts to adjust one of the two parts, then the actual plastic part that secures the trunk may need to be replaced and (conjuction) that is a job for a professional. Best of luck and keep the Honda running. I also have a 2001 vehicle, an Audi TT, and that is my aim.

I'd start by cleaning the mechanism. Get all the gunk out, then apply some silicon spray to everything that moves. If that doesn't work, you may have to adjust something.

I didn't realize until after I bought it that the one key I have for it doesn't open the trunk from the inside (if you're in the back seat there's a key hole to "unlock" it so you can fold down the backseat). Is there a way to somehow be able to unlock it without getting a new key made? I'm sure I can drill it out, but then I'd be worried about the seat folding down at random.
