How do i track my mileage on a car?
I'm taking a business trip 2 hours away to Alabama… The expenses will be reimbursed… How do I track mileage? I drive a Honda Accord, if that makes a difference.
There's a few different ways use your odometer, look at your current mileage before the trip then record that number and do the math when you get back or use google maps to map out your route
These days most company's use google maps for accurate mileage readings. Using the directions mode.
It is so much easier!
Usually mileage is based on mapped distance from one location to the next. Some companies even have a list of their defined distance between their office and the towns most people drive to. If you are allowed to report mileage then you need to note starting and ending mileage on odometer every time you drive related to the trip. If they pay mileage that covers your gas costs and wear and tear on the vehicle and is usually at the allowable rate set by the IRS. If they pay actual expenses you fill up your gas tank at the beginning of the trip. Then during the trip you keep any gas receipts if you buy more, then fill up again at the end of the trip for the final amount of gas. Check to see if they cover actual meal and room expenses or have a set per diem rate they pay.
You re-set the tripometer to ZERO before you leave.
Set the trip odometer to zero, then look at it when you get back and see what the total is.
Before you leave write down the odometer reading on the car. When you get back write it down again. Then subtract the little number from the larger one. Turn that number in to the employer. Save gas receipts and lodging receipts, turn them in too.
Your odometer always tracks your milage, just note the reading before you leae and after, the difference is the distance you have travelled
Hello
The old way. If we used our own car. Was to go to the shop. Have them fill out a tag with millage. Or return go to the shop & fill out the millage on the tag.
- What would be a good mileage for a used car? I'll be 16 soon and want to get my car as soon as possible… I'm looking at hondas from 2012-ish, what would be a good mileage? Is 50k a lot for the age? Would I want something with less mileage?
- Should I buy a 2013 car with 100,000 mileage? May I ask for your advice? I found a used car registerd in 2013 at a very cheap price. The brand is excellent - we're talking about Honda, Nissan, Mercedes here. However, its mileage is 100,000. If you were in my situation, would you think it is worthwhile to buy? How long can that kind of car last?
- Is it normal for my car mileage to increase rapidly? I just got this Honda cr v 2014 three weeks ago. I drive it back and froth from work. So weekly I do 20 miles. On the first day I got it is was 18 miles. Now it is at 1100. I have already been to Honda twice. They say it is no problem. Can someone assure me this is normal… Or is there something wrong with the car.
- Why does my car get unusually good gas mileage than normal? It's a 98 Honda Civic. I do 2 hours of Combined city and highway driving for 5-6 days a week. I kinda have a heavy foot, the rims are 1" bigger than stock and the car is due for it's next tune up this coming Monday. The car is rated at 28mpg combined when it was shiny back in 1998, and when I calculated mine i got 32 mpg combined, my calculation isn't wrong either as i have an mpg calculator
