How long does a new catalytic converter last?
My check engine light went on, went and got a diagnostic test, came back as the catalytic converter. I'm going to get it replace this coming week, I'm new to cars since I've been driving for about a year. They told me they do a 2 year 25,000 warranty on the converter. I drive a 2000 Honda Accord SE and they gave me a price of $225 including labor. Do catalytic converters last at least 7 years?
It depends how well you maintain the car and keep it burning the fuel efficiently.

- Is my catalytic converter the problem? I have a Honda civic 91 and its a 4th gen sedan. The problem with it is that the engine cranks but it won't start. I checked the spark plugs and they are all good. Battery has been recently replaced. What i don't get is why it starts up at times and doesn't. Could it be by any chance the catalytic converter that's ruined? I checked it recently, it wants to start but it chokes.
- How could I put a catalytic converter on a Honda civic 2000? OK this honda civic 2000 hatchback does not have a catalytic converter. Is there anyway I could get it new and installed without a problem? My car has a pipe instead of a catalytic converter and it I need it to put the oxygen sensor on it.

I took my car into Goodyear today and found out I have a manifold exhaust leak and that I need a new catalytic converter. I drive a 2001 Honda Civic LX and am incredibly inexperienced with cars. The price estimate was $883.37 and I was wondering if anyone in Colorado Springs know of a mechanic that will do the repairs cheaper or a mechanic that will install maybe an aftermarket cat converter? If I looked for aftermarket converters, what would I need?!
- Does a Honda civic 2000 waste more has without a catalytic converter? I have a Honda civic 2000 without a cat and has a pipe instead, it needs the secondary oxygen sensor. But I was wondering if the catalytic converter affects the gas usage an anyway?
