How many miles is to many if I'm in the market for a used car?
I'm looking to purchase a used 2003-2005 Honda Accord. I see a lot of them in my budget that have 170-200k mileage. If I'm looking to use the car as a daily driver to work and school ever day? This is assuming I'm going to check out and make sure the car has a good service record. Let me know your thoughts. If you have a different car that you would recommend for a max price of 2,000.
The average mileage per year is 12000, so the 2003 should have 156000, and so on for the other years BUT at that mileage is when components need to be rebuilt, or replaced, like the engine, trans, suspension, etc etc… And if you have $ 2000, then you won't find much of a running vehicle especially when you consider All of the costs - insurance, registration, mechanic to do initial inspection before purchase, etc etc… You are looking at $ 3000 minimum, and probably lots more… Might want to look into a scooter or small cc 'cycle
With $2000 to spend, you should probably look for the best deal, not necessarily a Honda.
For example, my old 94 Buick is for sale, it has 89,000 actual miles. I want $1595 for it.
(The AC has a leak and won't hold a charge)
That might be a better value than a 190,000 mile Honda.
The industry average is 15,000 per year. So if you are looking for a car that is 12 years old the mileage should be around 180,000. This is normal for any car that old. Expect it.
Regardless of age I wouldn't even consider a car with more than 180,000 miles on it.
- What is the most reliable car you've ever owned and how many miles did you put on it? Mine was Honda Passport with 250,000 miles bought brand new. Yeah I know it was rebadged Isuzu Rodeo but it was surprisingly reliable with no major problems.
- What is the best twincharger in the market? I have a Honda Crosstour V6 and I wanted to install a twincharger (both super and turbocharger) to my engine. I know the cost will be close to 10,000 for total purchase and installation. I'm not an expert but if you are, can you answer this: Can my engine (Earth Dream's V6) engine have the capability to have both chargers installed on to it?
- What are the top 5 or so used cars/trucks under $3000 in a CA market? Another words, what are the easiest or most sought after i.e. Camry and Honda are probably two of them, can you name others? Would appreciate if your responses is backed up with experience, i.e. Someone in the business, salesman etc. Or actual knowledge first hand. Nobody is reading the question and answering it…
- In the market for a sport bike? Should I go with a 2008 Honda cbr or a 2011 gsxr 600. I'm looking for a bike with a comfortable feel and a daily Commuter when I do t want to drive to work. Also speed is a plus but I'm not looking to race somebody everyday when they pull up next to me. I've heard Hondas are reliable and that gsxr 600 are the best and faster. 08 cbr $6700 11 gsxr $8700
