How many miles would a 2003 Honda Accord LX Sedan be expected to get before giving up the ghost?
I'm considering buying one in what appears to be very good condition but it has 233,000 miles on it
Don't buy it. The car could die the day after you buy it.
Check out the carfax on that car and make sure it's received regular service since 2003. By "regular" I mean like at least every 8-9 thousand miles. If it has received regular service, it could last another 5 years easily.
I'm amazed it is still on the road. Automatic transmission problems in those were truly infamous, leading to the 2003 Accord being the second worst vehicle in the carcomplaints.com database and a rating of Avoid Like the Plague.
Accords of this vintage were notorious for bad transmissions. Stay away.
There's no way I would buy a car with that many miles. Cars aren't meant to last forever, and after a pretty short time, things are going to start going wrong with it. Some not too bad, some major. The point is you are going to have to keep putting money in it just to keep it on the road.
Walk away. Fast.
After reading all the horror stories from Y! A users who had similar questions, I wouldn't bet on anything over 50.
If that car checks out buy a mechanic, it might be a decent buy- Provided the automatic transmission has been replaced Honda. If so, make sure that it was replaced after 3/2005. The earlier replacements were the same faulty transmission and will likely fail again. The redesigned trannies were used after 3/2005, and have been very reliable. The issue affected the V6 models, but some 4 cylinder models had issues too. If you're looking at a manual transmission model, then you should have no issues.
- How many years from the year the motorcycle was built should you hold onto it before the parts become too expensive For example I was interested in buying a 2006 Honda CBR600f4i until I looked up the price of the fairing pieces. Just a small piece of the fairing was over $600. Of course they charge that price because they want you to buy a new motorcycle.
- How many years will a new car last before it breaks down often? If you buy a brand new car and keep up with maintenance, how many years can you expect to get before it begins breaking down often, requiring frequent and/or expensive repairs? 5, 10, 15, 20? I know this can vary depending on the model, but let's assume a Honda or equivalent Japanese car.
- Will 2003 honda accord sedan fender fit a 2003 honda accord coupe? I have a 2003 accord coupe i just want to know if a fender fo 2003 accord sedan will fit the car since they look just the same i can't see a difference from outside
- Would you buy a used 2010 Honda Civic sedan with 107k miles on it? It appears to be in great condition… Clean CarFax, only one owner (he leased it and then he bought it afterwards). Has 107,000 miles on it, and he's asking $8500. Is it worth it? He said that they were all highway miles driving to and from work mainly
