How to change an automatic to a manual?

Is it possible to change my 2000 honda accord v6 automatic into a manual? Can I do this relatively cheep, and without installing a new transmition?

By far the cheapest way: sell the automatic and buy a car with a manual.

It is impossible for it to be cheap

LOL not unless you are Harry Potter dude.

You would need a NEW "manual" transmission and NO, it would not be cheap, that would be a silly teenaged dream. Then the labor to change over everything, so no, not in the real world.

It would not be cheap and would cost as much as your car is worth

No, you can't do it without removing the transmission. An automatic transmission will forever be an automatic transmission. There will never be a shift linkage or even the same kind of gears. There will never be a clutch, thus no clutch pedal.

Now, you can do it for significantly less than $3,000, IF you are mechanically inclined and have access to U-Pull-It type of junkyards nearby.

In fact, you could do it with a new flywheel, new axles, and a new clutch for under $1000 if you plan it right. BUT it wouldn't be easy and your car would be down for several days while you do the swap.
If you paid someone to do it, double the cost.

But frankly, if you're paying someone to do it, you would be better off finding the same year car but with a manual transmission… Even better, if you're that adamant about performance… Sell the Accord and get a real performance car.

The questions some people ask just make me laugh out loud!

Cheep? Cheep? Is this a new invented word? You are not in an intelligent place. Ask locally as to car issues. And, please, learn to write correctly. Cheap is the term. If you wish for a vehicle with a manual transmission, buy a car with a manual transmission. End of story.

  • Manual vs automatic? I've driven both. I still prefer automatic. Don't get me wrong manual is fun to drive but it's not as fast or not very practical anymore. What's your opinion on both? If you could choose one over the other which would you choose. I have a manual but it's way harder work for little return. I just don't see it. I'm thinking of getting an automatic. Preferably a Honda.
  • Honda Amaze automatic or Hyundai Xcent automatic? Which would be better purely in terms of performance, acceleration, smooth and fast gearshifts and handling, i mean the better drivers car. I know hondas transmission and engines are great, but is the hyundai as good too? Even though the xcent has only 4 gears, i.e. 1 less than the amaze, it has tiptronic, would this by any chance improve the driving experience? I sadly don't have the opportunity to test drive these cars.
  • Will starter from an automatic 2000 Honda civic LX fit on a automatic 2000 Honda civic HX? The lx is a 5 gear transmission and the hx is a CVT transmission. With the starter fit? Mine went out on my hx
