I have a 1991 Honda accord that died when I was driving any idea of what could be wrong?
I was driving in 3rd gear at 2500 rpms. My car just died, and at first didn't think much of it. But later today it started doing it allot more. I can't drive more then a 100ft with out it dying. I thought it was the alternater?
My first thought is the ignition switch, a common weakness in that era Honda. If so, the warning lights will not come on when the engine dies. It can also be the igniter, also known as the Ignition Control Module (ICM). Those can become intermittent and quit when they heat up. In that case there will be warning lights but no spark. I doubt it is the alternator, which would leave you with a dead battery when it died. I also doubt it is the notorious main relay (fuel pump relay) that normally only causes failures when trying to start.
Honestly. There can be tons of things wrong with it. My advice is to take it in and have it looked at by a mechanic.
- Why did my 2003 Honda Pilot engine just died while i was driving around 30-40 miles per hour? It virbrates every now and then when i hit 35-40 miles really bad of the whole car and I also have a check engine light and vtm-4 light on. I was able to turn off to a side street put in park and shut off and then started the car back up and it was fine again. Any ideas?
- What else could could be wrong? My stereo in my 2002 Honda civic la sedan wasn't working right so I had a friend check it out. Be got it so my stereo would work but now the a.c stopped working. When you try to use it the fans turn on for a second then automatically switch off. The mechanic shop said I need to change the control panel but I don't want to get a replacement then this isn't the issue. Is this all I can do to really know. What else could it be?
