I recently sold my 2006 Honda Accord 85K miles on Craiglist, and now the buyer wants his money back?

I listed out all the problems the car had which was back right mirror not working, car shakes for the first 10 seconds after starting, old brakes and tires, transmission fluid needs to be replace, and also it hard to change gears.

He even test drove the car and said it was fine and that he will replace and fix everything if I give him a good price. ($5,800 after negotiating)

He texted 3 weeks later and said that the car was apparently to much to fix and that the transmission had to be rebuilt or swap or something. He wants $5,000 back.

Added (1). What do?

Let the buyer beware. Tell him thanks, but no thanks.

Never go through Craiglist for anything unless you want issues. Still, if he agreed to take the car as is then you owe him nothing - just make sure you keep all documentation on your transaction with him and you'll be fine.

So. He bought it without a warranty. Your under no obligation to refund him 1 penny, especially after 3 weeks.

Bummer. He doesn't get his money back. He bought the car "as is". Tell him to take a hike.

OK, now that you've gotten all that off your chest, what is your question? You haven't actually asked one.

There are two problems with automotive deals on Craigslist:

(1) Buyers

(2) Sellers

You sold your Honda "as is", correct? And you did not include any "buy back" clause in the bill of sale, correct?

If so, the buyer has to deal with any problems it might of had at the time of sale or problems which occurred after the sale.

You are in the clear. Period. The buyer has no legal, or otherwise, right or eligibility to ask back for a dime. It's their puppy.

Tell the nuffy to pissoff

Used cars are sold 'as is'. It was up to the buyer to get the car inspected by a mechanic BEFORE he bought it from you.

He could try to sue you, but he will lose, 100% certainty, for the reason I have already mentioned. Tell him no.

Tell him to watch judge Judy a time or two and find out buyer beware. HE can't have any of his money back. Used care sales are as is always.unlees you say it has a warrenty.
