Is Honda Accord 2013 model a good decision for a first car?

I'm getting my g2 licence next month and and looking to buy my first car. I wanna buy something used but not too old. I'm thinking of buying a Honda Accord 2013 model but i don't know if I'm being realistic. I make $2000 dollars a month.

Yes

Honda makes great cars but few young people can qualify for that big of a loan.

But $16k for 5 years is about $288 a month. In US dollars.

You earn a little less than the minimum most lenders want to lend.

You'd need a strong cosigner to stand a chance. And a lower priced car is probably advisable.

  • Would a Lifetime Warranty influence your car buying decision? I'm debating between a 2017 Honda Pilot and 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. Pilot costs $28K but comes with a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty (several Honda dealers offer this) while Santa Fe costs $25K but just 10year/100k miles warranty. So do you think its worth paying $3k more for a Pilot especially since it comes with a Lifetime Warranty? I mean the warranty probably is worth $3k alone?

  • Taking my car into the shop for the first time (my first car and first time at a shop)? Recently acquired a 1999 Honda Accord for $1500 with only 160k. Runs great but my dad checked car and said oil is low and then proceeded to check the rest of the car and said all my fluids need to be replaced. What does that mean and what is the price for fixing this? I want to go to the shop with some sort of understanding of the prices so I know if I'm being ripped off or not.
