Is there any engine common between Honda and Daewoo?
I saw some photos of Honda accord engine mounting points and they looked awful lot like my Daewoo. I want to upgrade my Daewoo if possible with a honda engine
Lots of mounting points are similar because of the similarly configured and mounted engines. I seriously doubt it would just drop it--even if it was a Honda engine.
Daewoo is GM. And they have their own in-house engines or use GM ones. The only GM vehicle I know of with a Honda engine is the older Saturn VUEs which used the Honda 3.5L V6 from the Odyssey and Pilot.
I dropped an 89 Ford 5.0L engine and transmission into my 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo back in the day. Eventually a kit became available. With enough time, money and knowledge, anything is possible. So, get to it.
Sell it and buy something with brakes and suspension appropriate for more power.
To simply answer your question, the answer is NO.
No two different manufacturer will make same mounts for different engines.
Like others have already said, it is not impossible. It can be done with a lot of engineering skills and money. If you upgrade the engine, then you'll need to upgrade transmission too, brakes and suspension etc, etc, by the time you get it right, it would have cost you a lot, and not to mention, your car might become not street legal.
If you want an upgrade, then upgrade the car itself. Save your money, and get a whole better car and save a lot of headaches in the process.
But its your car, so do whatever you like.
The ecu is engine specific so it's not a simple matter of Engine swap. The two types are not compatable
- Mini bike engine runs full throttle, I believe there's a problem with the internal governor gear, any thoughts? It's a Honda g150 engine that's been sitting in a shed for over 35 years. I took off the carb and cleaned it out, the governor arm doesn't return back to idle, it just sits on full throttle. Runs fine minus that problem. Got it started yesterday and it took off I had to bail and it kept going right into my neighbors house lol.
- I have a Honda 1.4 sport 1999 reg and the revs keep going high but there's little power - any ideas? When i first start it its ok but after 15-20 minutes it starts to over rev and the power seems to drop. Any ideas on what could be causing it?
- Honda owners: is there a difference in top speed between 4 speed and 5 speed element? My car is an 03 auto awd ex. I'm just curious, what top speed before drag effect comes into Affect? Can it achieve over 100 mph? I've heard that it can do 1-10 but I'm not sure whether that's for the 5 speed or the automatic bc the extra gear makes a difference in my opinion.
- My 1995 Honda civic 1.5L recently wouldn't start an hour after a common commute? The fuel and air are not the problem. I'm not getting a spark. The engine cranks but will not start. I have already replaced the ignition control module and have tested the ignition coil. I don't believe it is anything to do with timing because it has no problems with skipping and such. Without replacing the entire distributer what else could be the problem?
