My 1996 Honda accord lx wagon is having an idling issue?
Upon start its at 2, sometimes tree, it's too high! I changed the idle air control valve, and the throttle position sensor, and I even tried replacing the map sensor, it's still too high! Please someone help!
Does it stay at 2-3000 RPMs or does It idle normally once it warms up?
It stays at 2-3, once it's in gear (well… Drive) it drops down to about 1.5 or so, but goes back up when in neutral or park, I hope you can help me
The top suspect for idle that high in that era Honda is a bad intake manifold gasket. Easy enough to check - remove the intake duct from the air cleaner, plug the hole for the breather hose so you are able to pressurize the duct with your breath, hold the duct to your face and open the throttle. Blow into the duct. If it holds air fairly well your problem is still in the throttle body. If not, enlist a helper to feel and listen around the intake manifold gasket (feel top and bottom) for the air. The gasket is made of paper and becomes brittle - mine came out in about half a dozen pieces. Don't forget to wipe that silly dirt ring off your face.
Because it uses a MAP sensor the leak is treated like any other throttle opening and searching with a can of carburetor cleaner does not work. IMG replacement is about a 3 or 4 on a scale of 1-10 difficulty. Mostly it is quite a bit of disassembly and reassembly… No impossible hardware, tricky settings, or really bad access. A helper is useful but not mandatory. I work very slowly and spent most of a day.
The crossover coolant hose under the intake manifold probably should be replaced while the manifold is out; you may never have an easy shot at it again. If you replace the crossover hose be sure to bleed the coolant after refilling. Open the nipple on top of the radiator hose housing 1/2 turn and close it when a steady stream of coolant comes out. Failing to do that can make the idle "hunt."
- 1994 Honda Magna 750 not idling? My 1994 Honda Magna Motorcycle is not idling properly. This is a fairly new bike it only has 8 thousand miles. I did leave it in the rain a few times when the rain caught me off guard, and the only other thing I can think of is maybe dirt got into it? When its left alone running the RPMs will go from about 1.5k to 0 slowly and die. To keep it running I must keep gassing the throttle, and when the choke it pulled it kills it.
- Idling issues with a 97 Honda Civic DX? Ok so i have a 97 civic dx, d16y7 motor, and i'm having problems with my idling. when the car sits in park it sounds like someone is hitting the gas and letting go and constantly does, when in drive there's no problem. I went to the pick n pull to get another IACV, but it does the same thing. I cleaned my old and new one and i've also cleaned the tb. The car still runs but this bugs me and i really want to be able to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
- 2005 honda civic went from having heat only when you are driving to having no heat? Have replaced thermostat twice, replaced the water pump, the heater core and the low idle valve. The system has been flushed ever time. It's went from having heat when you moving to having no heat at all.
- Why is my 1996 Honda Accord overheating only while I'm idling? I checked and both fans come on to cool the engine. Also when I checked the anti freeze, The reserve was filled to max but when I checked under the cap there was absolutely nothing in there. After checking online I just realized I should have been filling the antifreeze from where the cap is and not the reserve. So should I try and put my anti freeze in under the cap? Or would a coolant flush be more helpful? Or is it a water pump problem?
