Opinions for an 02 honda accord lx OEM distributor vs aftermakret. The price difference is nearly $400. Will it still perform the same?

I know they say you get what you pay for but i just need some opinions. $400-600 is big difference from $100-200.

Get a factory one for change at a junkyard. Why do you have to change the whole thing. It is either just a bad coil or igniter (module).

Go to Amazon. They have new replacement units very cheap, from name brand providers. A NEW HEI distributor for my old Chevy was less than 100 dollars.

Thanks for the reply, but all the hondas in a 20 mile radius are stripped to the bone. Also, most used ones are leaking, as to why i need to change mine. Are aftermarkets really that much trouble?

$400 is a huge chunk of change and the OEM broke anyway - I see no reason to not trust a highly rated aftermarket distributor performance should not be impacted (at least not enough for a daily driver - racer maybe). I replace the coil pack on my 2000 Focus (~$100 usd from Fomoco) with an Amazon replacement for $22 and never had an issue.

Interesting and Valid Question, The world is littered with off brand parts thanks to China, Taiwan and Mexico mostly. The Chinese are known for wildly varying quality. Some very good and others really poor. The KEY to buying is make sure they follow a Quality Control Protocol. ISO 9000/9001 is common, that's a QA/QC protocol. But there are others. If they don't list any don't buy it. They are proud to list Quality Control Standards if they have them. Ebay and Amazon will probably be best. But Rock Auto, 1A Auto, Parks Geek and others are also competitive.

I've read many tech line comments about after market distributors not working. If I had to buy a cheap one I'd go to Advance Auto to purchase it.
