Will my 2001 Honda Accord be okay driving long distance (800 miles each way)?

I'm moving away about 800 miles for school. I have a 2001 Honda Accord, and my dad says he doesn't think it'll make it because it has 120k miles on it. I'm getting brand new tires for it TODAY, and decent ones, too. There are no brake problems, or any problems at all. He just says it has way too many miles on it to drive that far. I've known people who've had twice as many miles on their cars and were perfectly fine. I don't see the problem.

When I go get my new tires today, I plan on asking them about my trip. What should I ask them, in particular, that could be changed/fixed up? I honestly don't see any problem with it. I might get an oil change, but I don't have all that much money to get everything fixed. What is most important that I get looked at to confirm it's fine to drive?

Also, the 120k miles were just commuter miles. It was never driven in rough environments or anything- just nice, smooth roads. Regular maintenance. It was handed down from my dad who took great care of it.

Added (1). Oh, and it'll be each way because I'm going to visit and look at apartments in a few weeks before I move.

KIA cerato koup or Honda Accord coupe?

My dad wouldn't let me buy a kia since he says that Korean cars are no good especially in countries with extreme weather conditions like mine's but I heard Korean cars are improving in quality, do any of you have experience with any of these two cars?

Mechanic didn't fix my car. What are my options?

My transmission went out in October and when I took it to the mechanic he said he could get it running for $1000. For the transmission and labor! He said he bought a used transmission, put it in, and it didn't work/fit/run. Twice. Then he said he's going to build a transmission for the car instead but hasn't or hasn't finished, i'm not sure. In February he said he would just buy the car for $1000 and give me back the money I paid him. $2000 in total. It is now almost May and he keeps giving me the run around. That he hasn't gotten the money, he's having personal problems, and had an accident with an employee happen. I don't know how much longer I can wait. I haven't had my car for 7 months! Its been hard to get rides to work and everywhere else I've needed to go. And when I told him I need the money soon because a family friend is selling me a very nice car at a good price, he said he's not going to buy the car at all. And I don't know what to do with a car with a broken a transmission. Or a partially built transmission or maybe not even a transmission in there at all. Can I make him buy the car since thats what he said he would do months ago? Any advice would help. Its a 98 Honda Accord if that matters.

How is the transmission in the 1997 Honda Accord?

I know that there was a long string of accords that had horrible transmission issues. 2001-04 for sure, but did that dip into the 97 year?

Now for some reason whenever I've ever posted a question about getting an older car I get bashed for it, so let me make something very clear; I've always believed that the age of a car is actually based more upon its mileage than how many years old it is. This 97 accord v6 that I plan to check out has 113,000 miles on the clock and has been maintained.
So what do you think; are the tranny's on this car year solid or is it too risky? Are there any other know problems on this year?

Now obviously when I examine and drive the car I'll be able to tell if the tranny is slipping, but I just like going into a situation as informed and knowledgeable as possible.

Honda accord v6 vs 4 cylinder?

I have a 1996 honda accord v6 and i love the feeling of driving it because it drives like a powerful car. I have had numerous newer cars on the highway try to race me or speed back up to me after i initially pass them. Usually they are cars like mustangs, chargers, and etc. But i still hold my own and it is a great feeling lol

But i want to know the difference between the late and mid 90's 4 cylinder and v6 honda accords… What are the pros and cons of each and what is really the difference(add as much detail and be specific as you can please)?

which one has has more longevity v6 or 4 cylinder?

Which car accelerates faster?

what normal maintenance can you do that is not to expensive that can add more torque or acceleration/speed to your car?

and are new versions of my car or any car in general have about the same speed and accelerate about the same but just better exterior and interior design, or the newer versions of cars are just clear cut faster?

Last but not least does anybody know what is the difference between d4, d3, d2, and d1?

Does d3 save you more gas if you are traveling in the city for example dc? But d4 is better on gas when you drive on the highway? And if this is true is the gas saved really a big difference?
