Should I Buy a 2012 honda with 94k miles?
I have found a car at a Carmax dealer, Its a white 2012 Honda Accord ex-l fully loaded for $13,998 . It looks smack brand new no scratches or anything. Did a test drive its rides smooth and engine sounds great! I Labsolutely LOVE it but it has 94,000 Miles on it. Should I get it or keep looking.
Added (1). Carmax is also a great dealer if you aren't familiar
The motor and drive train will probably last forever. Some interior items will start to degrade at that age so expect that in the short term, things like the headliner falling out of it, shift knob breaking. Things like that. Its probably worth it though they are good cars.
I would suggest taking it to a mechanic to have them give it a once-over (get a quote - but it's usually around $75 or so). It's not a guarantee of anything, but they can catch major expensive items.
Try to talk them down on the price too - never pay the sticker price.
94k is on the high side of average mileage for the year and the price is high retail considering the year and the mileage. A good deal would be around $10,500 and I wouldn't advise you to pay more than about $12k or so for it. If you decide to buy it, you should get it checked out first by an independent shop, you should check for accident or recall history, and you should get pre-approved for financing from a bank or credit union not associated with CarMax. Plan on making a down payment large enough that you won't be financing more than $9,000-10,000. Otherwise, keep looking.
That's high mileage. Check the service history to make sure it has not had any major work done. If it has the 2.4L motor, they are good for 200K miles, and the price sounds about right.
I would not buy a high mileage car. There are way too many used cars available for sale. Not necessary to take somewhat of a risk.
94,000 miles is not horribly bad for a 7-year-old car. It's just on the high end of average for a family sedan in the USA. Kelley Blue Book says a 2012 Honda Accord in good condition should sell for around $12,000, so this one is a bit high priced, but if you can negotiate a bit to get the price down, it's probably a good deal.
Sounds overpriced by 3000+
That car is just broke in. You may have minor issues here and there but the engine and transmission should easily go to 200k.
Check the price guides like KBB.com or Edmunds.com to make sure it's a fair price. The miles are high for a 6 year old car but it's a Honda. If well maintained you'll get 230K miles out of it.
Ask the salesman to search for another Accord EX-L with less miles and see how much more you'd have to pay to get the miles under 75,000.
I'm not sure what the car is worth but you can go on the Kelly Blue Book website and find out.
Timing belts need to be replaced at 100,000 miles so get $900 dropped off the purchase price to cover that expense.
- I have a 1998 Honda CRV with 240 K miles. Needs $1200 of repair to pass inspection. Should i fix or buy a newer used Honda civic? Mike? I'm the original owner and have done a good job with oil changes etc. However, it needs 2 front control arms with ball joints and rear struts to pass inspection. I've also gone past my mileage on a second timing belt (first one done at 90K miles). Car body exterior and interior is in pretty good shape. Inside looks brand new. But repair cost at 1200 + timing belt ~500 =~1700 in repars. Is it time for a newer used auto.
- When should a 2012 Honda Civic need its transmission fluid changed, or serviced? The vehicle has 83,000 miles? Lots of highway driving for a three year old car. Drives perfectly, no problems, just trying to look ahead.
- Used 2012 Honda Civic Coupe with 60,000 miles. Is it ok to buy? I'm looking at a Certified Pre-owned Honda Civic Coupe. It's 2012 with 60k miles on it and Carfax said it averaged 22k miles per year. No accidents reported and only one owner. The price is good is $14,000 right now and I'll probably negotiate it down. The main question: Is 60k too much on a 2.5 year old vehicle? Even if it's CPO?
- Should I buy this 2008 Honda Civic LX for $5,299 (price is negotiable and it has 163,000 miles)? Per the owner, it's been well maintained (I will get an auto shop to inspect it to confirm that). I see a lot of honda civics for sale now, so I do not understand why so many are for sale since they are reliable. Should I buy this vehicle?
