Should I buy the car?

So there's a 2008 Honda accord for $400 which is cheap but I have an uneasy feeling it has 160,000 miles and needs a head gasket replacement I don't know much about cars and I'm not sure what to do.

LOL! If that were the only thing wrong it would cost more. 400 bucks is dumping price. I'd bet there's at least 4k worth of problems.

Yeah that's a sketchy price 400 is way too low there some to be something wrong with the vehicle. Probably not too reliable. I would pass

At first, go to a car recycling center to know about if you sell them this car how much money they will give…
If the price is near by $350 then I suggest Please buy.

Find someone that knows a bit about motors and have them check it out for you.
Even with 160,000 miles on the vehicle it's way too cheap and there must be something wrong with it.

I believe replacing a head gasket is very expensive and there could be other problems. Price how much it would cost to replace head gasket (I'm thinking 1000's of dollars) and if $400 plus the cost of head gasket still seems worth it, have a mechanic fully check out the car to make sure nothing else is wrong.

I had the entire engine replaced in my daughter's 2001 Accord with a 100,000 mile salvage engine that included timing belt replacement for just over $1,000. Assuming everything else is fine, you would be in at $1,500. I agree though. That price seems low. Proceed with caution.

Someone who is mechanically inclined can change the head gasket themself. It's important to make sure the head isn't warped/cracked and it may have to be sent out for matching. I would not want to pay a mechanic to do it though because it's time consuming and therefore expensive to fix.

I agree that $400 seems low, even though the car needs a head gasket. It's worth looking at if you are capable of fixing the head gasket and anything else that may be broken on the car. If you are planning on paying someone to do the work then it's a risky buy.
