Transmission oil pump may be failing?

The transmission oil pump may be failing on my 99 honda accord. Or my torque converter may be going bad. I was told to let the car warm up for 5 minutes an see if it still happens and it it does do better. Before it seemed like it was coasting/didn't want to move when trying to get out of a parking spot. Warming it up does seem to help with the problem, but I'm wondering it that is a clue to narrowing down which problem it is?

If it was the oil pump, it would of had to be a long time. Trannys need oil to lube the moving gears, but a car can literally run half a year with no fluid in the tranny before it burns up and fails.
Torque converter only takes your engine speed and enforces it to the transmission, if it was no good you would not be moving, or you will notice you can't go more than like 10mph (even though your trying) If your car is not kicking/bucking then your tranny is probably fine, and if it has fluid on the tranny dipstick, your torque converter is most likely shot. Hondas are great cars though.

Oh and another way to tell is if you press the gas pedal and your RPMS go up, but your car isn't moving (like it's in neutral) but you can hear the engine roaring, it could be your tranny.

If it doesn't want to move its generally the torque converter your up for a reco torque converter and tranny either way in most cases

The car wants a rebuilt transmission. You choose when, now, or when you can't get home from 200 miles away.

Try holding brake and placing transmission in neutral for about 30 seconds (after engine start) before placing in drive or reverse. I've had to do that for years on my car. Not sure why it helps but it does on mine, suspect it allows fluid to quickly circulate thru transmission. Converters tend to show worst problems when fluid is hot, not when cold.

It doesn't really matter. Pouring large sums of money into an old worn out transmission for repairs would be crazy. If the car is worth keeping, you need a re-manufactured transmission. It's hard to see spending that much on an 18 year old Accord.
