What is the average price of a synthetic oil change?

I have a 2014 honda accord LX. What is the typical price for an oil change with synthetic oil? I wanna know typical prices in case i get a weird number from the mechanic.

$70 or so.

With a filter about $50. I get by a little cheaper because I buy my own oil and filter and have the Chevy garage do it. Then it is also greased. That all total costs me about $40. The garage charges me $11.00 for their work and grease.

Go to a car parts store and check out the per quart or per liter price of the correct synthetic oil; your Honda will probably need 5 quarts. You can either buy that oil and take it with you to the mechanic and pay the standard oil change price ($30-40). If you buy the oil from the mechanic, he will charge you more than the typical $30-40 oil change price, because his price is for regular engine oil, NOT the special synthetic specified by Honda. Unless you're hauling a trailer or doing offroading in the desert, the synthetic oil should be good for 10,000 miles between changes (or what the Honda computer advises).

It should require 4 or 5 quarts of oil at about $22 for a container at Wal-Mart. The filter should be around $5. So without labor near $27. The labor should be maybe $15 at most. Some oil change places have a ladies day where you can get it done for $29.95. But if your Honda holds 8 quarts like my truck then expect it to cost more accordingly.

Depending on your area and if you shop the sales, between $65 and $125. I wouldn't pay less just because I don't think you would be getting the real deal.

I have seem them as low as $49 and as high as $125. Depends a bit on the brand and quality of oil and oil filter used.

Synthetic oil varies. Most likely dealers use a blend which is cheaper. You can bring your own oil and just pay labor. I only use amsoil for my exotics and daily drivers.

  • Why do people get mad over the fact that their cars require full synthetic oil? I work as a mechanic and found some people do not like the fact 2010 and up toyotas and Hondas and almost all 2014 cars and European cars require full synthetic oil. A majority of the anger comes towards toyotas and Hondas. Despite me explaining the increased intervals, they still get angered at the fact. Is it just me or does less time doing oil changes that save you more money in the long run end up coming out cheaper despite the increased price and why would they be angry saving money?
  • Is going from synthetic oil in my '03 HOnda Hybrid to regular oil bad? Over 100K miles, always used synthetic oil. Took the car to my mechanic to have brakes checked, and he thought the oil looked dirty so he drained it and put in regular oil. Now I'm concerned about my engine. Advice please? I do not know what kind of regular oil he put in.
  • I want to put synthetic oil in my outboard motor? • Oil Change: Honda Motor Oil Vs Generic oil, does it make a difference? I have been getting oil changes with Honda motor oil for 15 years on my 2002 civic that now has 132K miles. If I switch to a generic $10 oil change garage shop will it still be ok? I know the Honda filters are better then the cheapest generic ones but how about the actual motor oil?
