What's happens to a car if you shut off the engine while you're stepping on the gas pedal?

I have this 2002 Honda Accord I was playing around with that got sold for scrap. I was wondering what would happen if I held the gas pedal at about 4,000 RPMs and then proceed to shutoff the car while holding it at 4,000 rpms. I tried this, nothing bad seemed to have happened. The engine rpms quickly climbed down and the engine shut off like it should. I started the car again and everything seemed normal. Does this actually harm anything if you do this?

We do not know but why do something on a car that MAY harm the engine. But then again, it is your car. You can do what ever you want.

It certainly can't be good for it.

Not with an NA engine.
It is an issue with Turbo engines and dramatically reduced turbo life.

  • Is a squeaking noise when you let off the brake pedal in your car a serious problem? Whenever I let off the brake pedal in my Honda, I hear a squeak noise. Is this something that likely just needs to be lubricated/cleaned on the brake mechanism, or is it signs of a more serious problem? It is not the brake pads; those have been replaced recently. Is this something I need fixed As soon as possible, (possible brake failure) or is it something that just simple (not serious ) maintenance?
  • Why do my headlights go off but my clusters lights get brighter as I step on the gas pedal? Why do my headlights go off in my 1990 honda civic and my clusters lights get brighter and my heater blows air harder as I step on the gas pedal? Can some one please help me
  • RPM of car increases really fast, barely pressing the gas pedal? I drive a 2008 Honda civic ex and I noticed that when I press the gas pedal lightly the tachometer increases really fast like up to 2000-3000 rpm and the car is not even going 50 mph. Is it normal for the rpm of the car to go really high when I barely press the gas pedal? My car has about 60,000 miles on it if it helps and I have had no issues with it since I bought it.
