When should I trade in my 2012 Honda Accord?
I own a 2012 Honda Accord which I bought new seven years ago. It is still in excellent condition and has not had to go to the mechanic except for routine maintenance. It has 75,500 miles on it. Should I trade it in now?
I would say it depends on your financial situation. If you have excess disposable income, then go for it, you can't take the money with you. However dire situations do present themselves, and your life can be flipped on its head very quickly, so saving the money and continuing to drive the 2012 Honda Accord isn't the worst choice in the world. Also cars that run perfectly and don't require maintenance over 7 years are extremely rare, and you should consider yourself lucky if it hasn't had anything go wrong. Overall unless your financial situation is splendid, I'd err on the side of caution and stick withe the Honda Accord.
Nope. If you like your car and would buy a new car that is essentially the same as this car, then keep this car. Even if you have a car repair, it is far cheaper than a new car payment.
That car should last 200,000-300,000 miles if it was taken care of. I would drive it until it started to need major repairs, then pay cash for a new car with the money saved by not having a car payment. Put $200-300 into a savings account every month, you drive your 2012 Honda. You will be much happier.
Not according to me, I keep cars 20 or more years until they don't work. It could go 200K or more.
Only of you have the cash to buy a new one
what you have to consider is rust in the subframe or body of the car
and any repairs that are need now and what you can have repaired over a period
The new cars have more bells and whistles that are designed to make you want a new car but are in fact just add-ons to the car you already have
Wait until it starts needing expensive repairs, like struts, steering rack, AC compressor etc. That'll be around 130,000 miles or so.
I wouldn't on an Accord.
Cam belt will need changing
