Which car is better for a first car?

2002 Honda Accord or a 2002 Chevy Impala

for a 19 year old guy with no kids but 3 younger brothers and 2 youngers sisters and a Goddaughter?

P.s. I will be adding subs and etc to it so which one is more "custom" friendly

It really depends on the condition of each car and how much it is going to cost you to keep it going after the purchase. Although it is not an absolute, if one of them has good tires and the other has almost bald tires it is an indication that the one with the bald tires has had no other maintenance on it like brakes, belts, hoses, battery… It will need repairs every month… I'd probably go with the one with better tires. If all things are equal, the Honda will get better gas mileage and cost less to operate.

I love Honda's but unless you know the owner, get the Chevy. Sadly, Too many kids abuse their Honda's.

Will the tribe be riding with you a lot? Impala for sure.

  • Is a sedan or small SUV a better first car? My parents both drive sedans, but my cousin as her first car got a Honda CR-V. It made me wonder, as a first car, is it better to get a small SUV or a sedan? I was thinking about getting a Honda myself (or a Subaru) so I wasn't sure if a CR-V or Forester would be a better first car than an Accord or Legacy. Which one would you get?
