Why is my 1996 Honda Accord overheating only while I'm idling?
I checked and both fans come on to cool the engine.
Also when I checked the anti freeze,
The reserve was filled to max but when I checked under the cap there was absolutely nothing in there.
After checking online I just realized I should have been filling the antifreeze from where the cap is and not the reserve.
So should I try and put my anti freeze in under the cap?
Or would a coolant flush be more helpful?
Or is it a water pump problem?
You have a leak somewhere. If your system was airtight, the radiator would be pulling coolant from the reserve every time the engine cooled off.
Your engine is overheating because there's not enough coolant circulating. Yes, fill the system with the right antifreeze / water mix: pour it into the radiator directly (cold engine). Then, drive the car to your mechanic and have the problem diagnosed properly.
It is probably the fact that your car is old, or that the radiator is not working properly. In the Winter time you should let the car warm up for at least 7 minutes. If you start it right away, then it will cause significant damage to your engine.
It might just need topping up and bleeding. If you get an air lock or lack of water it stops it circulating so itover heats

- Punctured tire replacement - can I replace only 1 tire - is it safe to replace the PUNCTURED tire only? My 2005 Honda Pilot rear left tire was punctured near the threshhold (ie - sidewall), but still usable. Thus the tire dealer patched it only. Should I replace that punctured tire only? Or should I replace the 2 tires on the same axle? Or even buy a whole set of 4 tires? I'm concerned about safety, and thus your best advice is very appreciated.
- 1994 Honda Magna 750 not idling? My 1994 Honda Magna Motorcycle is not idling properly. This is a fairly new bike it only has 8 thousand miles. I did leave it in the rain a few times when the rain caught me off guard, and the only other thing I can think of is maybe dirt got into it? When its left alone running the RPMs will go from about 1.5k to 0 slowly and die. To keep it running I must keep gassing the throttle, and when the choke it pulled it kills it.
- Idling issues with a 97 Honda Civic DX? Ok so i have a 97 civic dx, d16y7 motor, and i'm having problems with my idling. when the car sits in park it sounds like someone is hitting the gas and letting go and constantly does, when in drive there's no problem. I went to the pick n pull to get another IACV, but it does the same thing. I cleaned my old and new one and i've also cleaned the tb. The car still runs but this bugs me and i really want to be able to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
- Car is making a really soft hallow whistling sound, but only when idling Is this something that requires immediate attention? There's no performance issues but I'm wondering if it can snow ball into something worst. It's a 2004 honda civic 180, xxx miles
