Why is my battery light on? Honda accord 2007?

If it is on when the engine is running, the alternator has likely failed. Get the charging system checked.

If it's on when you turn the mkey to first stage it'a indicating that it is working.
If it stays on once the engine is running it's indicating you have a fault in your charging system. You may have thrown a belt or you alternator could be faulty.
It needs fixing urgently as your battery is not recharging and will fail, sooner rather than later.

Hi this is an indication the fan belt has broken.

Bad alternator.
Your battery is going to die and you'll get stranded.
Charge the battery using a portable battery charger set to 12 volts, 10 amps, fr 6 hours and then drive straight to an auto parts store. They test batteries and charging systems for free.
That's not just "the battery light" That's the battery charge warning light" which means the battery is not being charged.

When the battery voltage is higher than the alternator out put the light goes on. On some Honda's there's an electronic device that keeps the alternator output low when not needed so this needs to be diagnosed. Buy a voltmeter and learn to use it for this. I have driven Honda's with that light on erroneously. Actual voltage readings don't lie.

You can have the alternator bench tested, but if that is not the problem I recommend a Honda specialist. The ELD (electrical load detector), a Honda thing, can trigger the charge failure light. Not many people really understand the ELD (I understand it maybe 60% at best) so random mechanics can find themselves in over their heads.

Don't forget to check the ground terminal on the battery if it has corrosion.
