Why is my catalytic converter smoking?
1993 Honda Accord LX (F22a1) 4AT
At idle the car is about 1500 rpm cold all the way up until warm. But at idle it vibrates a little, with the air on idle drops to 500rpm and the car shakes violently. Also my dizzy is leaking oil. Every so often the engine has a sputter or misfire. Light light pinging noise. I'm sure it's out of time. My ignition anyway.
I smell gas when the car is off and after driving it my catalytic converter is smoking. Really stumped here.
Cat convt become clogged after a few years. Prob. Time to change. Or it may be oil or something leaking on it.
You need to tell it to stop smoking right now, it will get cancer and it is very bad to smoke!

- Is my catalytic converter the problem? I have a Honda civic 91 and its a 4th gen sedan. The problem with it is that the engine cranks but it won't start. I checked the spark plugs and they are all good. Battery has been recently replaced. What i don't get is why it starts up at times and doesn't. Could it be by any chance the catalytic converter that's ruined? I checked it recently, it wants to start but it chokes.
- How could I put a catalytic converter on a Honda civic 2000? OK this honda civic 2000 hatchback does not have a catalytic converter. Is there anyway I could get it new and installed without a problem? My car has a pipe instead of a catalytic converter and it I need it to put the oxygen sensor on it.
- Does a Honda civic 2000 waste more has without a catalytic converter? I have a Honda civic 2000 without a cat and has a pipe instead, it needs the secondary oxygen sensor. But I was wondering if the catalytic converter affects the gas usage an anyway?
- Do honda civic 2000 have catalytic converter? OK I was wondering if the honda civic 2000 should have two oxygen sensors. But the problem is all the honda civics that are the same only have one and also doesn't have a catalytic converter. Is this a problem? I'm afraid this is the reason why the car wastes a lot of gas.
