Amplifier/Sub enclosure draining battery?
Hey guys need help with my car (Honda Integra 97).
So i have a Amplifier/Sub enclosure (Fusion 750w) and iv'e had it for 5 months and just this month its started to drain my battery flat i figured out the power drain is from the amp/sub so now i'm always pulling out the fuse from the power wire when i turn the car off and when i go for a drive in i put the fuse back in…
i've measured the voltage when the fuse is out of the power wire and its at.02 v or something but when the fuse is in it stays at 12.32v i don't know what to do.
the things i've tried is
taking the wires all off and rewiring checked the fuses.
any help would be great. Thanks.
(the amp is off there's no light indicating its on but it still draws that 12v when the car is off and no key is in ignition sorry if i sound so noobish)

I think you just need to fit a $1 switch in the power feed to the amp! It will be a 'Master-switch' for the amp.
From the start, I'm skeptical that the sub/amp is the cause.
Measuring voltage at the amp terminals does not indicate the amp is drawing anything from the electrical system. The amp's power wire is just an extension of the battery (+), so if you meter that and any point of ground you' should see around 12.5v. The amp doesn't draw current until the remote turn on triggers.
How old is your battery?
They don't last forever. 5 yrs or so would be considered a typical life span.
The fact that you're only measuring ~12.3 at rest indicates the battery is probably not very healthy regardless of your audio system.
Most of the chain auto stores will do an electrical system check for free. Only takes a few minutes. Just stop and ask.
- Which car battery is better? EverStart Maxx Lead or Duralast Gold/Battery? Facts: I drive a 2007 Honda SE, 4 cylinder. Been using a Kirkland (costco battery; group size 51r) for about 5 years. Looking for a battery in case this one dies.
- My radio in my car is draining my battery? I pulled the fuse to the stock amp that is in my car so I could hear the difference in sound with the fuse out. Now that I have taken it out and put it back in I have noticed that my battery will drain in less than 5 minutes if I have my radio on with the engine off. I feel like now I have caused a short of some sort and now its draining my battery. What could I do to solve this and will it be expensive?
- 15 sub woofers in a small car. Good or bad? I have a Honda Civic Lx sedan, and I want to put two 15" sub woofers in my back seat. What are the chances of me blowing out my windows or something like that?
- Car battery float charger goes straight to float mode though battery is dead? I recently purchased a Stanley 6v float charger because my 2 year old honda battery died pretty sure the battery was the problem since the car started fine with a jumpstart but when i took the battery out the car and plugged the charger on it, went straight to green light/charged/float mode on LED display ever seen that happen or know what's going on maybe? I'm gunna leave it plugged in over night on float mode and hope for the best
