Are current Hondas really as reliable as people say they are?
I'm fully aware that Hondas from the 80s have a strong reputation when it comes to durability and reliability. But how reliable are current Hondas? I heard some Honda owners say their transmissions had to be replaced before 100k miles and others have said that all the electronics Honda is putting on the cars is lowering reliability as well.
What is the scoop with NEWER hondas (2008 and onward)? Are they pretty much bulletproof like the ones from the 80s or has honda lost its mojo?
Added (1). People always raved about how the old school hondas could last for 300k miles and beyond.
Honda by far has gotten better with age, the newer civics and accords will run for almost forever with normal maintance, and for an extremely long time with just minimal maintance - oil, tires, filters only- I have had a lot Hondas and everyone I have had has lasted 200k or better with very little major anythings. I personally know a guy with a 07 civic that has 750,000 miles on his car. He has had major maintance on his but it's still going strong. The few freak cases where something goes majorly wrong are few and gas between.
- Is it true what they say about CVT transmissions? They say that CVT is noisy, unreliable, expensive to fix and just plain weird like slipping feeling and no shift points. I'm thinking about buying a Honda CR-V or Nissan Murano both equipped with CVT but probably wouldn't if above are true.
- Why do uneducated people usually date other uneducated people? Like some hoodlum Mexican woman will fall madly in love with some cholo gang banger guy with face tattoos who's killed 10 people and works at McDonalds and thinks his primary aspiration in life is to smoke weed and collect air Jordan's and put a stupid spoiler on his 1995 Honda Civic. What's the attraction?
- Why do people hate Hondas? What's so bad about them other than the fact that there are idiots that overdo the customization and everything? Also, when I trade my current car in for a Civic, I DO NOT plan on adding any unnecessary customizations to my car as I'm not the type of person who likes to race. So really, what's so bad about Hondas?
- Why do people always recommend hondas? When someone wants advice on a sports car to get why are there always people recommending honda. Do people realize it's fwd. i meant to add civics.
