Bad starter cause my bad to need replaced?
Honda told me my bad starter caused my battery to get to hot and now I need to replace it also It tested above 50 percent life a few months ago. Is it possible for my bad starter to cause this
That's a new one on me. You can buy a battery tester for little money. See link for a UK one. They will be just as cheap in the US.
Sure. Too much current draw can overheat the battery and warp a plate. Whatever it tested a few months ago is irrelevant.
A starter will burn out if you keep starting the car with a low charged battery. A battery will go bad if an alternator puts out too much power. A starter won't make a battery get too hot and burn the starter out. How the hell do you teat a battery to see how old it is or how long it will "live"? You test a battery to see if it can put out enough amperage to start a car motor. It's called a battery load test. Either you don't listen well, you've got a bozo Service Writer, or you're at Jiffy Lube and not a Honda Dealer!
- Motorcycle starter over heated starter and only the solenoid clicked so i rebuilt the starter n tested it with a battery n it worked fine? Put it back in bike and again only the solenoid clicks… Is there a fuse for the starter or a relay i may have blown? 1988 honda hurricaine 1000F i'm ready to hang it up but the bike runs so good when it runs. i ran out of gas n kept trying to start it till battery was dead and that is how it got this way. Please and thank-you starter works fine when hooked up to a battery off the bike. what gives?
- Motorcycle exhaust gasket need replaced? I just put anew aftermarket exhaust on my 2004 Honda Shadow Aero 750 (vt750c) I replaced the exhaust gaskets. I have rode it twice since and noticed a leak where the front exhaust bolts to the head. The question is when I take the exhaust back off and put it back on to try and fix the leak will the new gasket still be good or should I replace it?
- I have a Honda GSV 190 mower engine with a broken starter rope and stud stuck in starter that I can't remove. Any ideas would be great When removing the nuts holding the recoil starter in place the nut on the front of the starter is stuck. When I try to remove it the whole stud come out of the engine. Leaving the engine cover stuck to the starter preventing me from replacing the rope. I have tried everything I can think of to remove it with no luck. Heres what it looks like. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/bolt-stud-h425mm-p-554740.html
- How often should a car's AC compressor need to be replaced? We have a 2007 Honda CRV with 120,000 miles on it. The AC compressor system just failed. I feel like that's too soon for a 7 year old car. I've had cars for 10-15 years and never had that happen. How often should that happen?
