Can I clear the code for a day or week or something in my 1997 Honda Del Sol?

My inspection is due and my light is on. I don't currently have time to really figure out the code and fix it. Was just hoping there was a way to clear it to get it inspected so I can work on it later.

If you do not have the time or money to have the problem repaired you will not pass inspection. Period.

It depends on what the code is. You might be able to clear a code by disconnecting the battery, but if the sensors detect the same condition, you'll have to get it fixed.

Don't fix it the code will come back. Scanners used can go into code history so you won't fool the inspection. So if a emission problem you'll flunk

Simply clearing the code puts the ECM into test mode. When said ECM finishes testing it turns the light back on if the problem is not remedied. If in a state that uses a scanner for emissions testing or other then it will show the ECM is in test mode in which case you will fail or be told to bring it back after X amount miles have been driven, Generally about 150, In which case if the light is on you fail

Take it to a auto parts store and have it read and cleared. If it is minor, fix it. Else run it for testing. Its a coin toss. Worse case is you will know you need to repair or finish test mode to return.

  • Hello there, I'm confused. I have a 93 honda del sol. 1.5L. Automatic. VTEC. Does it have a flywheel? I'm confused. I have a 93 honda del sol. 1.5L. Automatic. VTEC. Does it have a flywheel? The guy I bought the car from said the flywheel is bad. I took it to a shop they said automatics do not have flywheels. Now the 2nd shop says the starter is out and possibly the flywheel. I need to know if i should purchase both the starter and flywheel or just the starter?
  • Good colors for a Honda Del Sol? I have a metallic green '93 Honda Del Sol and I can't stand the color. It's getting a paint job, but I'm not sure what color would look best on it. I'm thinking a gunmetal gray. Opinions? haha, I'm a female.
