1996 Honda civic starts, won't crank? - 1

Added (1). My 1996 civic starts but the engine won't crank. I replace the coil in the distributor, replaced every spark plug, and the cables. Sometimes it cranks up regularly, other times it hesitates for minutes before finally cranking. As I turn the key over the motor will jump as it is trying to crank. I do believe I have a blown head gasket if that may be a problem. Car drives fine other than that

Not really possible. Frank's means the starter turns the engine. It can't start ie run unless it cranks. Do you mean it cranks but didn't start? A bad head gasket would do that.

If you're sure your head gasket is blown, you need to stop driving it. Bad and expensive things can happen. You need to let us know what you mean by starting and not cranking. An engine has to crank before it can start. Are you saying it is turning over but not running?

  • 83 honda magna won't crank? New batery. When i turn the key the lights come on. With the kickstand up and clutch in and the bike in neutral, when i push the start button my lights dim but there's no sound. The nutral light is coming on. I already tried bypassing the clutch sensor and i don't think the kickstand has a sensor. The batery is charged and when i jump it with my cars batery it has the same problem.
