2001 honda civic check engine light problems?
I have a 2001 honda civic with high miles. I have been having check engine light problems. A few months ago it was on for a while and then shut off and stayed off for a good month. I was driving on a main road the other day and the check engine light started flashing. I pulled over shut the car off and checked the oil which was a little low but definitely had enough oil. I turned the car back on and the flashing never happened again. 20 minutes later the check engine light pops on and is now staying on. What could this problem be? The car is not driving any different than it always has and when I bring it for a diagnostic at autozone it doesn't work because something in my cars computer system won't let it finish the diagnostic and it gets stuck. I need help to know what I need to fix!
It could be so many things.
I used to have a Civic, and I has told when the check engine light came on it was usually the oxygen sensor. But the wiring that feeds those lights could also be bad!
Maybe you should bring it to a Honda dealership, just to be sure. Civics are nice cars, and they're worth taking care of. (IMHO anyway.)
You need those codes the only way to tell why the light is on is by those codes. It could be So many things from an O2 sensor to ignition problems.
Many part stores will scan free, call until you find one and have scan ran on it
- Check engine light, open door light, and batterie light all came on and won't go off? 2000 Honda Odyssey I already had the altinator replaced it a month old. The batterie almost a year old. Would the belt need be changed or something else?
- Does a broken muffler/exhaust cause a check engine light to turn on on a 97 Honda civic? Recently my muffler broke and snapped off my 97 honda civic and a day later my check engine turned on, i just got the muffler welded back on. Was the broken muffler the cause of the check engine light to turn on? Will it turn off now that i got the muffler welded back on?
- 2008 Honda Civic LX - Check Engine Light? I drove my car this morning to work and it was fine. I even gave it a nice 10-15 mins warm up before driving because winter in Wisconsin is terrible. When I finished my shift, I started my car and the check engine light came on. I'm not sure what I should do. I'm thinking of the cold weather, but I'm open to anyone who know cars well. Just need to get this issue over with. I'm hoping it's not a big issue.
- 2004 Honda civic ex check engine light? I'm having a code that reads p0 2646 the problems that the car has is when you get to 5000 rpms the vtech doesn't seem to kick in the car kinda shakes so I just et my foot off the gas and slowly get to speed. So just want to know what part or parts to check and possibly what part I need to change. But note that this problem wasn't happening before a head gasket change?
