2001 honda civic lx 4dr. Heater takes 10 minutes to blow out heat. What is the problem?
Just last week the car heater worked fine and would produce heat after a couple of minutes. Now it takes more than 10 minutes to produce heat.
Did you look at the temperature gauge? If it is hanging out on the cold side that means your thermostat has failed. If not why not check the coolant level?
Heater core, or thermostat is not functioning correctly. Start with thermostat
Thermostat is stuck open or partially open.
Check the coolant. Check the temp gauge if it is slow to go to operating temp. If it does, the thermostat is stuck open.
These are the 3 most likely possibilities
1. Thermostat could be stuck partially open
2. You might be low on coolant
3. Maybe nothing is wrong and its simply taking longer because it is much colder outside(and therefore the engine is colder).
If it is significantly colder this week than last week, don't even worry. My car takes only a few minutes on normal days but when the temperature is like 20 or lower it can take up to 10 mins. But if the temperature is about the same this week then check the first 2 things i said.
- 2001 Honda CR-V A/C will blow cool for 15-30 min then go warm? My 2001 Honda CR-V has 170,000 miles and it blows fairly cold air for the first 15-30 minutes but then gets warm until I let the car sit for a few hours. I have not checked the cabin filter yet since on this series of CR-V it is the hardest one I have had to get to, so wanted to ask first. Do you think it is that? Also, it doesn't sound like the compressor turns on or off if that makes a difference.
- If My Car is overheating and i turned the heater on the temperature remains stable what could be the problem? I have 1998 honda civic it was good a while back then no long Ago it started overheating and i change the thermostat and nothing changed and then they told Me the catilyzer could be clogged and i fixed it And nothing changed the rare thing about this is that when the temperature valve start going up i turn the heater on and it goes back down to halfways. - Deciding on a 2004 impala or 1998 honda civic lx 4dr? So heres the thing i drive through hills quite a bit. The impala should have no struggles going uphill but the honda i believe would. And the impala is at 190k miles honda is 140k. Of course the honda has way better gas mileage. The impala is like new from inside and out, honda is okay outside but the inside is all torn up. Lastly the impala is 2400$ and civic is 1800$ what are your opinions, i guess what i'm asking is would the honda really have trouble going uphill?
