2001 Honda Civic Sometimes Cracks, but doesn't start, smell gas?
I have a 2001 honda civic that lately has been giving me the same problem. It cranks, but doesn't start until i do it a few times. Sometimes it fires up fine after a few times and sometimes it gets a bit shaky. Then Recently i started smelling gas. Only things i have gotten done recently was that i got a master kay made at the dealer, and had a remote entry installed. That was a few months ago. Its been happening a lot these past 2 day. I would appreciate any help.
When was the last time you changed air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, timing belt… Is there spark at the spark plugs when cranking? If no check main relay and ignition module. A bad ground will kill electronics.
reason distributor goes bad is old age or bad ground, specially the valve cover ground(yes even that skinny one). If all those thing pass the test check O2 sensor, assuming you don't have a blown head gasket proceed to check the safety neutral switch. Many other things come to mind but those are the most commons.

- Smell gas inside car? 92 honda civic? I have a slight gas smell coming from the cab of my car. Its a 92 civix dx sedan. I can smell it from inside and slightly from the outside when i stand by the front of car. They are are NO visible leaks on the ground. What can this be? Any honda experts out here?

My car is a 1997 Honda Civic Dx my engine is a d16y7 and my car used to turn on then I did a compression check and they were low and when I put the spark plugs back it didn't want to turn back on BUT it does stutter like its wants to turn on but it can't and it smells like fuel and the spark plugs are wet with fuel and has black fuzzy stuff probably because it tried to turn on I don't know what's up
- My 2000 Honda Civic EX shuts off when driving it, sometimes it'll start back up but sometimes it won't I got my tail pipe and muffler replaced. I also got the catalytic converter and MAP sensor replaced in my car as well. My dad believes it could be the fuel filter, but we have no clue what it really is.
