Can you give more details? Is it backfiring? Sputtering? Usually when the check engine light flashes it means it's having a serious failure somewhere.
If your CEL is flashing, you have a misfire problem. You can check your spark plugs and wires, but on an 02 I believe you have coil packs on the D17A1/A2. That means likely it's a spark plug problem or one of the coil packs is going bad.
A flashing CEL is usually a bad misfire.
The noise you speak of bothers me. If you haven't had the timing belt replaced the belt may have jumped and the motor is out of time. That can bend the valves. You may want to tow it to a mechanic so you don't risk more damage.

- I recently purchased a motorcycle (HONDA CBR600RR 2009) but the steering makes a funny noise? When I steer the front wheel to the right or left it just makes a squeaky noise. I'm wondering if other cbr600rr owners have the same issue. I took it down to dealership they said its the wiring and its normal. Anybody hear any noises when you try to turn the front wheel right or left during complete stop or when the bike is parked.
- Flashing check engine light on 02 Honda Oddyssey after Valvoline oil change? Got an oil change at Valvoline, and next day check engine light began flashing. Car was running flawlessly before oil change. They suggested a new fuel filter, as mine was pretty rough. I declined. Got error codes of random misfire, as well as cylinder 1,2,4,6 misfire. Scanner at auto zone listed EGR valve as suggested part. Could this possibly be that the fuel filter is bad or was put back on incorrectly?

Over the last year my check engine light has come on about 3 or 4 times for a few days at a time and then turns off again for a very long period of time.
