2005 Honda Civic running hot after replacing the radiator, heater core, and thermostat?
Things I've noticed.
It running hot is directly tied to me turning the heater and AC on. Usually turning the heater on would cool the engine down, but it makes the temperature spike.
I replaced the heater core because it was leaking and I smelled antifreeze when the AC was on.
The radiator is brand new.
I've straight wired both fans to the battery.
I think you may have air in the system. You should check for that first.
I've also noticed that water seems to be coming out of the reservoir cap. Any ideas?
Needs burped. Bleed air, sometimes can be a pain.
Besides air in the system, it's possible that the thermostat was installed upside down - they fit only one way to be effective + the fans are meant to turn on when they are needed, NOT all the time… That will not help with the cooling!
- Does power steering fluid get hot if the car is just running and the steering isn't being used? If the pump is just spinning, recirculating fluid and nothing else… Would it still get hot? I had to bypass the pump from the rack and have the fluid recirculate. Would the pump get hot from just spinning? I know 8th gen Honda's don't have a cooler for the power steering anyways.
- Why could my 2000 Honda Civic show it's going to overheat I have coolant a new radiator a new radiator cap a new temp gauge switch and? A new thermostat head gasket is fine could it just need to flushed and a new water pump and timing belt
- How much will it cost to fix a front bumper and radiator and repack airbag on a 2005 Honda Civic? The headlights and turn signals also don't work? Anybody have a price? I don't have a lot of money
- Honda Civic 2004 LX flashing engine light after thermostat change? I have a Civic that was overheating and I got the engine light checked out and was told to change my thermostat. I changed my thermostat and I refilled it with coolant and for some reason the engine light started blinking and it never went off?
