2006 Honda Civic (Salvaged) 147,000 Miles $1,500 a good deal or no?
So a guy is trying to sell me this car for $1,500 I've never owned a salvaged title myself I wanna hear what you guys have to say about this.
Steps When Buying Used Cars:
1. Check mileage
2. Make sure its not a Hon… Whoops!
What in its history made it a salvage? Do a carfax and also google the vin.
Make an educated decision not an emotional one.
Why is it a salvage vehicle? What is it that made an insurance company declare it a total loss and not worth fixing?
You need to have a mechanic give this car a very thorough inspection before you buy it. Otherwise, you risk buying a pile of junk.
Salvage tittle is just a piece of paper that no one else can see, there's no factory warranty on something that old so it is not going to hurt warranty either, just a guess one like that with a few less mileage and in good shape may be worth $2,500-$3,000… Does not look like the paint on that one is that great and looks like the bumper is rigged and don't know how fair the interior is? You can't get much for $1,500 now days either so it is hard to say (it's up to you) I would give it a good mechanical inspection. If it is good mechanical it may not be a bad deal?
I personally won't touch a salvage title. If you want to risk it, then get a mechanic that knows his stuff to come check the car out and make sure it's okay. Just know that 90% of the time salvage title cars were repaired very cheaply
If it runs & drives good and its a "prior salvage" I would consider it. The prior salvage reduces its value by 25-30%. (more on expensive cars)
If its actual salvage, I wouldn't. It reduces its value by more like 50% or more.
Prior salvage means you can register it and buy a tag. Actual salvage means you can't… Without jumping thru a dozen hoops & spending money.
Why is the hood up like that? Mechanical issues?
Most people with Hondas want way too much so I suspect its an actual salvage so WARNING.
You probably don't want to deal with the hoops if its actual salvage.
It can take months and cost hundreds. In the meantime, you can't legally drive it.
No salvaged car is worth buying. They are unsafe.
A salvaged Civic that's 12 years old with that mileage is not worth $1500. Maybe $900 or $1000 at most.
Yikes! That's one tired, beat up, and abused Civic. You could not pay me $1500 to take ownership. It's a train wreck waiting to happen.
Salvaged cars get a bad rep, cuz more often than not, they are repaired cheaply. However just because its salvaged does not mean its worthless, i've bought and sold many with simple front end damage that required nothing more than the hood, bumper, and plastics with little to no serious damage besides a radiator. I'd give 900
- Would you purchase a 2004 Honda pilot for $6,000.000 that has 216,000 miles on it? I'm just browsing online looking at cars for sale and a lot of them have 200k or more miles on them and they want $4,000 or more. Why do people sale their cars for such a high price with a lot of miles on them? Its not just Hondas its all types of cars private and dealers as well
- Bike guys. 92 Honda Shadow. 22,000 miles. Asking $1200. Good deal or not? I'm totally new to street bikes, although I've ridden dirtbikes a lot. Just looking for any insights on the bike itself (I've heard they're fun and reliable) and thoughts on the pricing. I'm not looking for websites or anything, I've already done some research. I'm looking for actual experience.
- Is the 1985 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft compatible with the 86-2001 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft? I have a 1985 CR 500 and the water pump gear shaft broke. It has been discontinued from Honda, and no one else has it. It is a metal gear. The one's for the 1986-2001 CR 500 are plastic. If I have to use plastic, I will. However, I prefer not to. If anyone knows where I can get the OEM 1985 Honda CR 500 gear shaft, I would forever be grateful.
- 2008 Honda Fit with 66,000 miles on it for $5,000? Is this a good deal? I need to buy a new car and today I got an offer on a 2008 Honda Fit with 66,000 miles on it for $5,000. I'm a 19 year old girl and I know nothing about cars D: Are Honda Fits good cars? Should I buy this with so many miles already on it? Also, I like to travel. Will this car be safe to drive long distances?
