2006 honda civic serpintine, a/c issues?
Ok so I have a 2006 honda civic ex. When I bought the car it came with a no A/C serpintine belt. Car runs perfectly fine with the no A/C serpintine belt on, so I said what the heck I miswell get the serpintine belt with A/C so I did and before I began to put it on I made sure to check the A/C clutch… It did move freely with the spin of my hand. So I began to install the serpintine belt with A/C after I finished I started the car and hit the a/c to on and max then the car started rpming up and down real low until it shUT off why is it doing this? After it shuts off there's a funny smell coming from the belt but when I put the no a/c serpintine belt back on car run perfect again why is this? If the clutch on the a/c compressor is moving freely doesn't that mean it's working I made sure I got the right belt routing down I just don't get it… It gets over 100 degrees out here where I live and I have children if anyone knows what this could possibly be please help thank you
"I started the car and hit the a/c to on and max"
Don't do that Einstein!
AC clutch energized, compressor is locked up, puts the brakes on that itty bitty engine!
Oh the clutch is good but the compressor it toast. NAPA will have a replacement.
Yeah the compressor is seized why do you think the former owner went to the trouble of putting on a bypass belt? You need a new AC.
What they said.
Thank you guys! So what would I have to do exactly to change the compressor are there alot of steps? I'm real good with step by step instructions youtube also helps a lot as well but I haven't found a video describing compressor replacement for 2006 honda civic
With that belt off, spin the center part of the ac compressor. If it is seized like i think, a smaller belt was used to deal with the issue.
- Which is better Honda civic 2006 or vw Passat 2006? I'm getting a car soon and I can't decide which one. Which has better reputation, safety, which will last me longer? They're both in good shape. About 130,000 miles on both.
- What are the technological improvements of a 2017 Honda Civic vs A 2006 Honda Civic? What are the various ways in which a 2017 Honda Civic is better than a 2006 Honda Civic of like-like model (say, EX vs. EX, LX vs. LX)? Plus, what is anticipated a couple of years out, like the 2020 model? A list of technological improvements would be great for me to decide if it is time to upgrade or keep the old car for a while still.
- Idling issues with a 97 Honda Civic DX? Ok so i have a 97 civic dx, d16y7 motor, and i'm having problems with my idling. when the car sits in park it sounds like someone is hitting the gas and letting go and constantly does, when in drive there's no problem. I went to the pick n pull to get another IACV, but it does the same thing. I cleaned my old and new one and i've also cleaned the tb. The car still runs but this bugs me and i really want to be able to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
- Honda civic ima battery issues? Hiya, i'm looking forward to buy a hybrid car, quite like honda ima but been reading the reviews, sum r gud and sum r bad… Heard if battery dies it costs around £3000 to get fixed or replaced. Does anyone owns and knows any1 who owns honda ima, how it drives? Is it worth buying? Hows its battery life and anything that can help me making a decision.
