2019 Honda Civic lx takes a while to warm up. How long should you let your car warm up or what are some tricks?
My new 2019 Honda Civic takes a while to warm up. Even if I don't turn on the heat at first glance. I won't to maintain a good engine life. How long should the car warm up?
I have never warmed up a car that was yesterday's idea. Turn on the engine and go. This is 2019. The heater will come on after a while.
You shouldn't have to warm up your new Honda anymore than a half minute. If you want your heater to provide heat more quickly drive it! The sooner you do the quicker you'll have more heat.
Use an engine heater
I start the engine, scrape all the windows clear and then get in and start driving. One of the biggest problems with letting the engine warm up and then driving is nothing else has had a chance to warm up, such as the transmission, brakes and power steering. You are hitting them with full power from the engine while they are still cold as ice. So start the car, clean the windows and drive gently for the first ten miles letting everything to warm up at the same time.
Engine oil does get thicker when it is very cold. So it might be a good idea to warm up the car for 1 to 2 minutes and then take it easy on the throttle after that.
You start the car, wait half a minute and drive. Turn the heater on after a minute after you start.
One minute and the oil pressure comes up to operating pressure.
This is normal with today's small and very efficient engines.
I have a 2018 Civic LX hatch with the 1.5 turbo engine and it takes a good 15 minutes for the coolant gauge to come up in this -20C weather.
But the engine is fine to drive. It has 0W20 oil which makes it easy to start even in -30C not plugged in and a car's engine is good to drive within a minute of starting it. It will warm up faster if you drive it rather than leaving it idle.
- Why is it that some husbands let their wives drive luxury cars while they drive ordinary cars? I've been observing some of my neighbors (one of them is a stay at home mom) and the husbands drive ordinary cars like Honda Accord or Honda Pilot. But the wives tend to drive luxury cars like Acura TSX or Acura RDX (some form of luxury car). What is the reason for this? Why do wives get to drive luxury cars while the husband drives ordinary car? I should say some of them. Its not a problem though but was only curious. The neighbors are Asians actually.
- Is a squeaking noise when you let off the brake pedal in your car a serious problem? Whenever I let off the brake pedal in my Honda, I hear a squeak noise. Is this something that likely just needs to be lubricated/cleaned on the brake mechanism, or is it signs of a more serious problem? It is not the brake pads; those have been replaced recently. Is this something I need fixed As soon as possible, (possible brake failure) or is it something that just simple (not serious ) maintenance?
- How long does it take for loan max to repossess your car after your loan due date in Ohio? I took out an $800 title loan on my 2000 Honda Oddyssey (188,000 miles) and I can't make the initial repayment amount of $288 on time. How long will it be before they send someone out to repossess my car? I live in Ohio and I'm really afraid they will repossess it before I can come up with the cash.
