94 honda civic cranks but won't start?

Gets fuel
has compression
has spark
fuel pump works
main relay good
just replaced distributor
engine is correctly timed.

Was driving vehicle took a right turn and the car shut down. Won't start back up. Thought it was the distributor so I replaced that and still no start. This civic does not have vtec. 16 valve engine

Cranks but won't start any ideas

Some fact here is wrong, if a car is timed plus has air, fuel, and spark it runs.

Go prove that you have fuel and spark again.

Your compression test is not accurate; you need to buy a tester. If the timing belt skipped a link or two, you could get the results you are explaining yet no start. Cam belts need replacing on the required interval. If you pull the plug wires and turn over the engine, you can hear the engine compression. If it spins freely, you have no compression. If it speeds up and slows down repeatedly, you have some cylinders with low or no compression.

This is why I'm so confused. Pulled fuel rail out and flipped over pointing injectors up. Cranked engine and saw fuel spraying out of all 4 injectors. Put those back then removed all spark plugs and placed then in plug wires and laid them on top of valve cover and cranked engine. All spark plugs have a visible spark. I canr prove it has compression as I have no compression tester nut I know what a car with no compression sounds like and this is not sounding like that. Try to cover plug hole with rubber stop and it hisses at me when I turn the engine.

Your quote:

Gets fuel: Does not mean that the pressure is good or not being contaminated or… Old fuel.

Has compression/ Hear hissing sound: Does not mean that the engine has enough compression pressure, timing could be off a couple of teeth or the valves could be bent.

Has spark: Does not mean having strong spark nor the firing order is right.

Fuel pump works: Same as "Has fuel" above: What's the fuel pressure? Check for fuel quality.

Main relay good: How do you know? Read this guide:
http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/mainrelayoperation/index.html

Just replaced distributor: Does not mean the Igniter/Ignition Control Module, The TDC sensor are good etc
http://easyautodiagnostics.com/honda/2.2L-2.3L/honda-ignition-system-tests-1

Engine is correctly timed: Timing could be off at the cam/crank sprockets. Do you actually look at the marks?

Basically: Give us the readings: In actual/physical numbers. Not by visual/guessing/looking at it. If the engine actually has Spark, Fuel and Air, it should run by then.

Take it to a shop

  • 2004 Honda Pilot Cranks but won't start if I press the gas when starting it starts.Engine lights is off,? Maintenance required is on but when I reset the lights turned off and everything works for now? What would be the problem? 1. I'm thinking it is the Timing belts slips 2. Relay maybe lose 3. Crank position sensor lose What would be the reason trying to get opinion and will look into it whatever is the best possible problem.
  • I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect? I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect. I did a compressin test, the pull start only gets the mower to 60psi but the drill gets the mower to 150psi. This mower does have a decompression vale where the ehaust opest about 1/8 of the way. I tore the ead off and checked and cleaned the valves. They don't stick open. Could there be an issue with the decompression valve? Or would it be the piston rings?
  • My car won't start but when I try to start it, it sounds like a power drill? I have a 95 Honda Civic and it does not start it keeps making a noise that sounds like a power drill spinning. I have no idea what it is or could be any more. I've pulled the starter and put in a new one and the starter is still not catching the fly wheel. I have even resorted to charging the battery, checking all fluids (transmission, antifreeze, etc.) and putting in 5 gallons of gas but still nothing, can't pay to get it to a shop. Anything helps thanks.
  • My car cranks but doesn't start? My car is a 1997 Honda Civic Dx my engine is a d16y7 and my car used to turn on then I did a compression check and they were low and when I put the spark plugs back it didn't want to turn back on BUT it does stutter like its wants to turn on but it can't and it smells like fuel and the spark plugs are wet with fuel and has black fuzzy stuff probably because it tried to turn on I don't know what's up
