A/C in a 2002 Honda Civic?

I live in Texas and summers are pretty hot.
Lately the A/C in my car pretty much gave out. I bought a "do it yourself coolant" but when I checked the gauge it was already overloaded. If I remove the freon and reload it will that fix it? Or do I need to replace the compressor?

You'll have to find out is there any code in the AC system first. You can actually manually retreive the code by using the switches/ Buttons on the AC/Heat control panel. This link may help:

Have fun. E mail if you have more questions. HTH

You need to see if the a/c clutch kicks in first to see if your compressor is working. Another thing is is your car blowing any cold air or any air at all. Blower motors will work even if your a/c is not working. Last thing many of the modern a/c gauge readers read differently according to the outside temp or where your car is stationed at so make sure you are getting the most accurate read possible. Before you buy more refrigerant(freon) check all this stuff other things that will cause your a/c not to work properly would be the accumulator, drier, orifice tube and expansion valve.
