Aftermarket car radio won't power on, is it fried?
I was on a small road trip the other weekend and I don't have a aux port so my friend changed the source to play some CD's. Well, it read an error about ejecting the disc. So I popped out the faceplate, popped it back in, and it wouldn't power on anymore. My cars a 2000 Honda Civic and the stereo is a Alpine CDA-9805. I checked all three of the fuses already, they all still look good. I've taken the dash apart and removed the radio already, unplugged it plugged it back in, still nothing. The fan doesn't even power on. I just need to find out if it's trash or I'm just missing something.
Which fuses did you check? There should be 4 fuses you should check… 2 on the stereo itself, red and yellow… And 2 on the cars fusebox locations. If I remember correctly the 2000 civics have 2 spots that power the radio. 1 spot is under dash, that powers the accessory 12volts. And 1 under the hood that powers the constant 12volt memory on your stereo.
- Prius: Can someone explain the power usage meter & specific difference between power mode and Eco mode? My brother just got me a Prius to replace my old beater Honda and I'm having difficulty understanding the power usage meter (meter on dash with "Charge-Eco-Power") and the difference in the Eco & Power modes. I do understand the charge bit on the meter.
- My car doesn't have a radio. Will any car radio work for it? I have a 94 nissan Pathfinder and when i purchased it, it didn't have a radio. My girlfriend has a junk 98 honda civic and the radio in it still works. Will it work inside of my car? It's the stock radio. Be gentle i don't know anything about cars
- How to install aftermarket alarm with power door locks? My car has power door locks however I don't think '02 Honda Civic LX came with the keyless entry module built in. I want to put in a keyless entry so that I don't have to lock/unlock the doors with the key. Isn't there something underneath the steering column that I can plug a "keyless receiver to? Since I have power door locks would I still need to do wiring of some sort? Just so you know, I'm somewhat handy and would want to save money doing it myself.
- Should I buy OEM or aftermarket power steering pressure hose? I need to replace mine due to leaking, but I'm not sure if I should get OEM or save with aftermarket. Can anyone with experience tell me if should should spend more on that hose? Thanks! Also should mention this is for a 2006 Honda Accord
