Am I spoiled or is this normal?
So I'm 17, got my first car 5 months ago. It was a 2012 Mercedes C class car.
I fell asleep behind the wheel (no not under the influence, and never fell asleep before not even driving alone 6+ hours then making an emergency stop overnight then continuing driving for2+ hours) but it was very shocking and THANKFULLY no one was hurt - from both parties. I hit a large truck and the whole front left of my car is GONE, and the insurance company declared it a complete loss
My dad suggested I get a Honda Civic or a corolla but my mom said I should get an equally reliable car in terms of safety and definitely does not approve of that idea of me getting a cheaper car. As she claims my life is more valuable than any car, and she'll do whatever it takes to protect me as much as she can.
So I'm now getting a 2013 Mercedes C-class. It's funny because it's a better car than the one I got 5 months ago. It's 1 year newer, has less than 18k miles, and the interior is black on black which is better than my light colored interior.
But the exterior is virtually the same.
Is this being stupid/ spoiled or just being careful? I've NEVER hit my car when I was awake I'm a pretty good driver when awake. And BTW, I live on my own in a nice apartment for school.
To be honest I've totaled many cars and I just got a better car kind of how you did. If your parents can afford it, then it's not spoiled at all. It's only spoiled to the jealous peasants.
Yeah, you are super spoiled. A 17 year old with a mercedez is ridiculous in the first place, let alone two within a year. Btw it's not being safe either. Hondas are more reliable.
I think that if you're the one that trashed the car then it is your responsibility to replace it. You didn't specify if your parents were the ones paying for it, however. If you pay for this car yourself, then that is your business, good for you. If you're letting your parents pay for your mistakes, I personally think that is not very good. You're seventeen, you're driving, and you are responsible.
- Is it normal for someone to still drive a 20-year-old car? I still see dozens of 20-year-old Hondas and Toyotas every day. Is it a Japanese car thing to last that long or is it normal? I want to get a 20-year-old car soon.
- Honda bf5 1997 oil light alwasy on is that normal? I have a bought secondhand Honda bf5 1997. No book or anything, when engine running oil light is stays on which is the green. It that normal? Regards.
- Is it normal for my car mileage to increase rapidly? I just got this Honda cr v 2014 three weeks ago. I drive it back and froth from work. So weekly I do 20 miles. On the first day I got it is was 18 miles. Now it is at 1100. I have already been to Honda twice. They say it is no problem. Can someone assure me this is normal… Or is there something wrong with the car.
- Why does my car get unusually good gas mileage than normal? It's a 98 Honda Civic. I do 2 hours of Combined city and highway driving for 5-6 days a week. I kinda have a heavy foot, the rims are 1" bigger than stock and the car is due for it's next tune up this coming Monday. The car is rated at 28mpg combined when it was shiny back in 1998, and when I calculated mine i got 32 mpg combined, my calculation isn't wrong either as i have an mpg calculator
